Nice, Marshall, much easier than trying to use a vise. I have thought about the same thing, but I like the engine stand mount better that my idea.

I got the rear springs flipped last night, fabbed up some longer rear sway bar links this morning. Waiting on paint to dry.

Worked on my trailer a bit. The tub is still at the sand blaster - I did tell him no rush.
got the frame painted. still need to do some touch up here and there. 99% done.

while paint was drying, I went to work on the lunette to make it a schoach longer. cut it in half, started cleaning up the surface.

forgot what the exact dimensions of the tube were, but this is 1/4" wall DOM. Snug fit after polishing the forged parts with a flap disc wheel.

The tube is 14" long which will extend the overall length about 8".

Fat overlapping helical welds

Terrible looking lumpy caterpillar weld going on here. I can certainly appreciate the art of welding that I see at ACC.

Next I drilled a 1/4" hole about 1/2" deep at each end and 180* from each other (4 holes total).

Then welded a "rosette" although mine look more like mushrooms compared to Dugan's welds. The idea is to pin the tube to the forging by burning a really hot weld from the bottom and work your way to the surface getting wider and wider as you draw it up.

It was during the great pig exidus of the carolinas.......seems they all drew the short straw around the same time. just saying i wasnt sure if that was a big gay pirate pig or what :D

This weekend Steve-O and I decided to give the old LV we drug back from Casper, WY this past Jan. some love :D

We replaced the locked up F engine with the one I removed from my 45 (it originally was in Richards piggy way back when), replaced the front floor pans since the LV was a Flinestones mobile, did lots of pressure washing of the frame and undersided, and finally used CLR/warm water to remove the rust and associated stains that the old girl had acquired since relocateing to the South... topped it off with a couple applications of wax. Our goal is to keep the old girl original looking with a "Rat Rod" flare, hence perserving the patina look

Restoring the patina. Found a method on a VW bus site for removing rust stains and bringing back the faded paint.... it was pretty simple use CLR mixed water and Scotch Brite green pads to scrub. It removes old rust like a charm. We added a couple of layers of wax to breath a little life back into the old paint and protect against rust coming back.

I know this look isn't for everyone, but we really like the faded/ patina look of the old girl and decided to keep her that way.
