What did you do with your truck this week? (2 Viewers)

I dropped the diff fluid that was used to break in my new gears and changed it out. Nothing of note in the old fluid, but the rear was definitely darker than the front. Also meant that I got to put my skids back on.

Then I changed out my old Hella's for some new ones I got on clearance ($25!!) only to discover, after mounting them, that one lens was cracked (just like the one I removed). Oh well, they still shine bright.

Also fixed a few leaky CV boots with some pipe clamps. One CV axle is starting to go, so it will get replaced soon.

I need to finish hanging Bertha's gas tank so we can get her moving again. Currently it's being held up with cargo straps and bungees until I can fabricate a new hanging system. The old one is just moronic and damn near impossible to reattach.

I finally got the Jeep back together after last GSMTR. I was looking for diffderent axles, but I decided to go ahead and put it back together like it was for now, and find a set of axles to build while I can still drive it.
The 62 will go to Lextech next week to get the trans cable (kickdown) installed.
I could do it myself, but I'm not a fan of laying on my back with trans fluid dripping on me!!

Had my tires balanced yesterday. They have about 3,000 miles on new KM2s and were at least 2 ozs off on each wheel. They ride great now though! :) I also cut one of the KM2s about two weeks ago near Linville Gorge. The cut wasn't deep enough to make the wheel lose air and the local tire guy that I trust said I should be fine but to be safe I'm running it as the spare now.

Mounted the 37" Rockers and got the timing adjusted so she runs great now. Took her out on the street and got some serious death wobble. Came back and check the tire pressure, and my idiot brother put them at 16 psi after I told him not to go over 10 psi. Will lower them tonight and taker her out again tomorrow. Never had DW before with 38" Swampers or 35" KM2's so pretty sure it's got to be the psi. Crazy to think about runnig a tire at 10 psi on the street and 4 psi on the trail.:grinpimp: 8 ply really stiff bias ply tires with a load rating for a 13,000# vehicle at 30 psi, so figure my rig weighs about 5,000# so nothing over 12 psi should do it.

Should have the rear bumper mounted tomorrow as well.

Putting in engine mount brackets, I suck at welding...anyone in berea want to do some welding for me Tom in exchange for small engine work

Looking sharp, but the shackle was courtesy of ACC Toyota...I was just the mule. By the way, it glows in the dark too - special powder coating additive.

I'm curious, how far does the light bar project?

as far as distance down the road?....or in front of or behind the center tube? Light projection they say is 400 feet for the one I have....I say it is every bit of that amount when properly adjusted...plus it gives very even fill to sides even with the driving light instead of flood beam pattern. I took it on dark lonely road tonight after properly adjusting it for optimum distance so the main portion of focused light is just barely breaking roadway...any higher and it would be fully elevated straight ahead...but I want it at the transition point of road to still give good surface illumination....and it is over 400 feet I think...but for sure that is good number.

Rigid Industries - LED and HID lights

as far as mount to bar it is nearly flush with front edge of tube...maybe 1/4" out in front....rest is in elliptical portion of housing to rear.

I forgot about the shackle being glow in dark...hahahaha...I almost painted over it. Think I will leave it now...or maybe put a design on it like zebra stripes. :D

Waiting on new beer opener to adorn bumper before my next trip...:D

Looking good jeremy

today...repacked front bearings on LX...

also replaced passenger side valve cover gasket...and cleaned throttle body really good while I had the air cleaner and intake off.

Got my lift on!

Me and my brother and Corey got my 850/860 lift on today! It didn't take but about 2.5 hrs. They did most of the work. Now I just need to get the cc bushings in the mail and put them on. It rides great and looks good too. I just need to find some 315s or maybe some 305s for it!

Jeremy, did you get those tires balanced??
They took quite a bit of weight on my steel wheels.
On Scott's old Jeep (TJ), his 31's were only about 1 oz. each out of balance, and it caused a death wobble.
Usually, there is something loose underneath that lets it get that extreme.

I have not. Gonna see how they ride without. If I get DW again I will have to find a shop that can handle that big of a tire. We can't close the bonnet on our Hunter machine but I might be able to find a way to run the machine with it open.

Gulches

Went to the Gulches yesterday. One word - wet. Even the easy trails weren't so easy. Spent more time in clean up than riding. Saw a crawler tear up more parts ($$$$) in 15 mins than I made in the last 6 months. Glad it was his rig.

Went to Coppinger Cove on Friday with Palazzolo and Marius. It was epic. First thing is my 4WD wouldn't engage - front axle ADD actuator failing again. Disassembled it at trailhead and manually engaged the front axle. Continued on and found a cave or two along the way and lost count of how many water crossing we did. Got lost a little bit and found the main trail that led to the Chapel in the woods. On the last leg out we got all 3 rigs stuck in about 33" of mud and all 3 of winched to higher ground. Didn't get off the trail until almost 9 and then had to manually disengage my front axle. Got home at 11:45 on New Year's Eve.

Talked to a few people running big tires and they said don't bother trying to balance them, 37" up bias ply tires don't won't to be balanced. They said to run about 7.5 psi, get them hot on the hwy and it should be good. They said to make sure everything is tightened and if it still shakes a little at 35, then get a band-aid, stabilizer. Nothing else really that can be done. Just tires that were made out of round and way out of balance from the factory.
