My wife and I went on our first LC trek together.
Up to now, it's been me working overseas hauling this or that other person to and fro; or me putting my nose in someplace to do research or whatnot.
But this time it was me and her. And we had a wonderful time.
We visited a Celtic living history village.
Then we drove to the Roman fortress near Pfunz, Germany.
Then we stopped for a picnic on the tail gate.

After lunch, we walked among the sculpture field (figurenfeld auf deutsch) near Eichstatt.

We are in Oberpfalz, between Regensburg and Nurnberg. Nice, pastoral and peaceful.

Replaced my radiator, water pump, A/C idler pulley bearing & alt. belts. All as PM. What an asswhoop!!!! Water pump looked damn good for 180K miles. Took me exactly 3 hours from removing the first bolt to starting it back up.

Finally removed the front brush guard.....the last of the damage multipliers to go (gone are the tail light guards, running boards, brush guard). Took the surf racks off while I am deciding on my roof rack options. With it all stripped down like this it looks so naked!! Enjoying the clean streamlined look, but don't know how long it will last.
every time I strip the rack from the top of mine, I think wow looks pretty good..... but it is missing something. 
Sharp looking 80 there. (and get a rad cap and black stone report!!)

When I see an 80 for sale with a brush guard on it I feel like buying it just to take all of the stupid crap off of it, maybe wax it, and then selling it with increase in value it just got.
Tried to PM you but the system blocked me. anyway...I had the pleasure of visiting Regensburg when I was a kid. Dad rented an old Passat in Frankfurt and we drove all over for two weeks. Beautiful area. My family is from Hamburg -the very opposite of "nice, pastoral and peaceful". Did you pic up your 80 over there, or did you import it from the states? Ah-hem, bringing this back to 'tech'...I couldn't help but notice the rims -powder coat or paint? Hard to tell from the pics if its black or a gunmetal gray. Either way, sharp looking 80! I'm hoping to do mine soon, but still sitting on the fence between powder or paint
I bought it in Arizona in January, where I was rescued by DRTRDR, INKPOT and ToolsRUs after it broke down.
Then I got a job in Germany, and shipped it over.
The wheels are a combination of Rustoleum wheel and bumper paint. It went on really well, and is staying on. I wouldn't waste my time on powder; paint is quick, easy and can easily be repaired if you actually use it off road.

Changed the oil at the 1000 mile since rebuild mark. Went with Rotella 15W40 diesel oil. I like the additional oil pressure over 10W30. Can't tell any difference in the mileage, energy saving yada yada, BAH. I can't imagine running 5W30 in a warm climate!

Replaced the front and rear shocks with new OEM shocks. And pulled the front drive shaft to check the U joints. The rear u joint on the front drive shaft is toast. I only ordered one of each spider. I'm guessing I should've ordered two of each? The front U joint doesn't have any play but 237k on the clock, may as well replace. I don't want to do this again.
And I think it was @BILT4ME or @LFD2037 that was wondering if the lock washer was on the nut side or the bolt side on the drive shaft flange. I can confirm it is on the NUT side.

Replaced the metal valve stems on my Lx450 wheels for rubber ones.
