We'll see. It's not looking good inside. Dropped the upper oil pan last night and mains are wiped, lots of metal in the pan. I'm leaving towards just buying the rebuilt engine from Ricky.

The problem is none of these places will ship a block, so you are either going on a trip or paying your local dealer whatever price they want.

Dog, between me and my boss we have 50 years of automotive experience between us. Awhile ago a 01 Honda CRV came in burnt valve. My boss got a head gasket full kit and I was like “ you gonna use that head gasket “ he said why not, I made my case. He did it twice. Some times just cause you take it to a shop doesn't mean someone doesn't know the nuances of a particular vehicle, or if the aftermarket parts aren’t reliable. Sometimes a machine shop can mess up and miss something and the technician can do everything in his power to make the job smooth… stuff happens is all I’m saying… hopefully people are doing their best but you don’t know unless you know and every then.

Finally got my wheel setup completed with painted trim rings to match my new burnt orange paint job.
A reputable shop in Norcal used an aftermarket HG on 2 of our buddy's 80s....both ran super hot. Both were under warranty that's why I ask.

For sure, I don’t think we’re in any disagreement here, like I said even good shops don’t know the secrete sauce to use on all makes and models, that was my point. I’ve had to do jobs twice due to poor quality parts for sure, but also I learn from mistakes and try not to make them again.

Radiator fixed it! The PO didn’t use an OEM, looked ok but clearly wasn’t. Tech said it was really light compared to other replacements and OEM. Hopefully done for a while so I can just enjoy it on the trails.
