and...

A few more pics.

Got some work done. Had some fun. Was a good Saturday afternoon and good to see the water flowing after a long time without rain. We finally got some rain yesterday. It came in with some strong winds and took on some storm damage but we will take it.

Thanks.

Thanks. Those two are actually my pops. But, I do have three myself. Great dogs. These are mine, all getting a bit old and gray.

One thing (well, there is a plethora of things) but one thing I will say that I love about the 80 series Land Cruiser. The tailgate. I remember loving to ride on the tailgate growing up. Tailgates on pickups and old station wagons. The boys were calling dibs on who all got the tailgate. Nobody wanted shotgun.

Let the games begin...

I have begun my 96 FZJ80 build. I have had this truck for years and used/wheeled the crud out of it while living all over the country from PA to OH to CO. This rig has served me remarkably well in stock form but I have always dreamed of transforming it into a more capable and utilitarian vehicle.

I have crept around the mud forum for months now soaking up all of the valuable information I could from all of you older, wiser, cruiserheads and have been learning and planning. I have limited mechanical ability/experience so this is really a new learning process for me but I am loving it. I have some access to a friends shop and tools so I take advantage of that when I can and am unbelievably excited about moving further into my build up. This week/weekend I bought( for great prices) a Frankenstein lift and installed it. 4"ironman front springs and 3" rear OME. I am going to put on my used pro comp shocks tonight and see where I go from there. (bump stops, front brake line ext., CC) I already moved the R line down w/ a bracket, and the handling is decent despite the lift w/ no vib's yet)

I guess I will start a build thread at some point w/ pics , but until then, I just would like to express my gratitude to the mud forum as a whole for helping me further indulge my hobby/ passion/addiction for these incredible trucks.

Many thanks and I look forward to becoming a more active member of the forum

Bought a Scan Gauge II. Cool computer that does more than I will ever use it to do. Also, installed a Torqflo 12" aux. fan from Autozone for $59. Couldn't stomach the $300 for the JDM. If this helps the A/C and helps cool engine a little, I will buy the JDM when this one gives up. Super easy install. I probably should have bought the 14" version. It is supposed to be 108 today, so i will report my findings.

Cleaned the sunroof drains and found no blockage on the passenger side front, but when I did the drivers side I couldn't push the wire as far down. So I got a big flat head screw driver and pried open the drain port on the rocker. I went back up top and pushed the wire down farther, and was completely amazed at how much water started to drain. I thought I smelt something moldy but I had no idea there was that much water in the drain tube. I'm not exaggerating when I say it was at least a cup and a half if not more of water.

Anyone know if the back ones are as easy to clean?

Took care of this...

Then drilled a hole in my tailgate for 12v exterior 2 pole plug. Yellow line will have Rigid LED diffused light spliced to the end for camping light, digging into the back of the cruiser when dark and as under/around the truck lighting. May add one to the front too.

Washed my truck the 4th time since owned in 09. Only wash the truck after a day of wheeling. Had to take advantage of the sun here in WA. WA has terets. It can be sunny, & 5min after it starts raining

Sent from my hawn finga using IH8MUD

Lol. Nice ride bro. Wish i was there.

Havent updated in awhile but I finally got my MetalTech 4x4 Coil spacers on after finally breaking down and getting coil compressors, but once I got those the job went quickly. This is just temporary until I save up enough for a full blown suspension overhaul.

I also put in a new (to me) set of off road lights, my Dad was kind enough to let me use his old KC lamps that he used to have on his CJ-7, so I ordered myself a set of AUX harnesses and jumper harnesses from slee and installed it. Pretty straight forward and saved a little by ordering the AUX switch direct from the dealer (go figure)

Finally got to test out my new lights on a little night run up Colsen Canyon, nothing too intense just really bumpy. Ill be uploading some footage of it from my gopro soon!!

Took the family out exploring on Saturday near Mount Ranier. We ran the surprise lake trail up to the lake which was amazingly beautiful. The only downside was the tweekers encamped there that pulled guns on me and my family for walking near their trucks.

I was armed but acted like nothing abnormal was happening and calmly asked them about alternative lake access so we wouldn't disturb their campsite/methlab. I then calmly ushered my wife and 4 year old the hell out of there. Irritates me that I can drive an hour and a half off a gravel road up to a mountain peak to a pristine alpine lake only to have to mentally debate dropping three tweekers in front of my little girl. Glad it turned out well and I didn't have to escalate my response...

Here's some video of the trail highlights. Our camera is on its last legs so I think a go pro is in our future.

Which side were they on? We camped up there 2 weeks ago on the beach. The water crossing ended up being deep enough to go over the hood of my 75.

Here's JackZilla's 80 in front of me going across:

Lol, so those were YOUR tracks I saw on the lake bottom. The idiots in question camped on the beach at the southeast corner. A beaten brown cherokee and a CJ Jeep I believe. Early twenties, white, bad skin and teeth- typical tweeker trash. Its getting bad enough out in the national forests these days I may need to start packing the long gun when I walk away from my truck. That sucks.

Its been awhile since ive gone into national / state forest without being armed, just for that exact reason. I guess it started when I was 17 camping with some friends and when it was dark some armed guys came to our camp and told us to leave. With no gun I saw no reason to argue..

On the issue with a gopro you should start entering their daily giveaway on their website and hope you win before your camera dies... Otherwise the 200+ investment is pretty much worth it!

Yeah, I've been packing a sidearm for the last fifteen years when i go out in the forests, but having to potentially carry an AR just to leave my truck kind of takes the fun out of things. I've carried a weapon to make my living, but that level of commitment and focus are not terribly conducive to a relaxing and fun experience. Plus, your average forest user/LEO tend to get the wrong idea when they come upon you out in the woods geared up wearing full-battle-rattle.
It just bothers me that I've got to take it to that level just to pursue my recreation interests.

Bluetooth -- Just picked up the Scosche solar-powered handsfree speakerphone (from GroupOn). For the budget minded a great alternative to a bluetooth equipped head unit. The mic and speaker are very clear and it connects to droids and IPhone.
