Had my koyo radiator refurbished and flushed. Threw in some new coolant and now she’s a happy girl!

After installing a new radiator and full flush to get the Toyota red out and changed to green last week it's running really cool.

Picked up a PO306 code last week ... read a bunch of threads that hurt my feelings, then started with the basics. Had Onur send me a tune up pack a while back ... installed new plugs, wires, rotor and cap. No code and drives nice and smooth now, but still a slight stumble in park with the AC off???

Counting it as a win for the moment and keeping my fingers crossed.

All look a little lean to me, but haven't done enough Cruiser plugs to really know yet. Used to my tuner car that runs really rich. The boot cap on plug 5 was missing part of the top seal. That's why the porcelain is so dirty on that one.

Finally done! Total of 18 hrs start to finish. That’s probably twice as long as it should take but I don’t work the fastest. And was quite a bit rusty. And I painted stuff. Only damaged one seal and it probably would’ve been fine if I had left it but since I had some on hand I swapped it out.

She stops on a dime.

And filled the diff with the oil pump that @LandCruiserPhil recommnded a couple of years ago. Filled the front diff in about 3 minutes. I had forgotten I had it!

All new axle seals, bearings (saved the old Koyo bearings for spares for the next kit if they are needed), new rotors, new calipers, new pads, new brake fluid.

And shout out to Joey aka @NLXTACY for the reference guide and Kurt aka @cruiseroutfit.

But the biggest shout out to Onur aka @beno. Walked me through multiple steps I wasn’t confident in. Thanks bro!

Well, I finally got around to installing my OME 2.5" lift on my 80. There is a local place here in PHX that rents out lifts to customers. The pricing is high compared to what I am used to, Navy auto hobby shop (free). It was 45 for the lift, 15 for the air ratchet, and I am not sure if there were fees associated with the use of the air hose, tranny jack and the swivel I had to borrow, but overall I am not going to complain, in and out in 3 hours.

The picture of the coil springs in the rear. I thought there was going to be a more significant difference between them. The rest of the photos are just from different angles.

The last picture is a before picture the BFG KO2 315/75-16 the same tire after the lift.

He has a swamp cooler but would be better if he had a hurricane fan to move air around. The saving grace was that it was in the shade for the most part but still outdoors, but the best part was the lift. No laying on my back at my age 43.

Some creative zip-tying to fix the exterior handle for the rear hatch, putting emblems and parts back on after some paint touch-up, and finally getting around to replacing the rear sub.

Daughter drove the 80 yesterday and told me there were a lot of air leaks around the door while driving.



I have weather stripping I could install. Almost the last of CDan sourced parts in my stash. Easy-peasy and found I had the weather stripping for both front and rear doors.

I thought I’d only had the front doors. I’d tried to buy weather stripping for the rear doors from Onur a few months ago, but he was traveling and I let it slide. Double win.

If you, or anybody else, wants a yellow clip let me know. I will be home in a about 10 days and would mail one for nothing. I bought a 10 pack online. I've read one can get them at good auto body shops but I have a bag of them.

It's not a job. Just being nice and paying back what I have gotten a lot of (random people giving me things while walking across the country). It's part of long distance hiking culture.

I agree! The “trail Angels” on the Appalachian Trail are AMAZING! Seeing them is almost like seeing “God” after eating cold ravioli for a week for B, L, and D! Thank you for volunteering!

I call BS! There is NO WAY I could sleep if I had them vehicles as mine!!! A “kid at Christmas” doesn’t compare to the excitement you must feel when you wake up every morning knowing they are YOURS!!!

Hit the 85k mark on the way from seattle to Bend, OR.
New motor has now almost been broken in at 600 miles .
Averaged 14.7 with a roof box going 75 on cruise with the A/C on!

Also found some play in my knuckles 9to3 wise .time to retorque hub nuts in the parking lot. Guess the new bearings seated more!

This pic HAD to be taken at the gas station! Very rare to see a Cruiser that says “full”! Lol
