Finally got around to getting the new gas tank, filler neck and skid plate installed. Lot of work, but totally worth it. Now that rusty turd that was in there won't be the demise of such a nice truck.

Continued on my trip from Orlando to SoCal. Bumped into this dude in Grass Valley who gave me a good tip for my next stop, thanks Luke.View attachment 1738789

Headed to Alabama Hills to a fantastic spot. After days in the desert it was nice to see some water

Then for some known reason I decided to it up Death Valley....in July. Temperatures were close to 50°c (120°f).

Put in thicker drive flanges... Way less slop now.

This pic hurts my brain. Everything looks wrong.
Be forewarned that stuff can get pretty gummy in the sun. Don't lean on it too much, because it will leave prints.Shot my flares with some Dupli-Color Bed Armor, and put them back on with new hardware. Someday, when I'm feeling ambitious, I'll weld up all the holes and paint.

Yeah, the Duplicolor stuff is better, but I have had a little bit of an issue with it, especially before it fully cured.I've used it on some trim pieces on other vehicles in the past and haven't had that issue. The Rustoleum brand has done that (stayed soft and gummy). I'll keep an eye on it, though.
I have seen this by @bkcruiser but have not heard back from him yet with info.... I believe he is a Sacramento guy.

I'm willing to go this route, but that also eliminates the option of a 3link unless I link the driver side.
