Put a lot of time, Friday and Saturday, into getting my new 37" trxus to fit and play well with the new Dobinson 4" flexi coils and the shocks they pair them with and all with as little cutting as possible. I am impressed with how easily these particular tires can be fitted on the 80. It took hours of trial and error to end up with 4.75" up travel and 5" down and with only a small nip at the lower rear front fender well in order to push the inner fender back an inch. I made custom 2.5" outer bump stop drops out of 2.75" pipe and welded them into the factory parts. Still in the process of welding up the drops for the axle side bump stops.

One point I intend to discuss with Dave Otero of Dobinson USA is the fact that the shocks are long enough to let the coil drop out of the upper bucket about an inch, maybe more, on the driver side and .5 inch passenger side (track bar limits passenger drop more). I'm not sure yet if this will ever be a problem on the trail because the radius arms may bind first. From what I saw in my garage, this suspension combo is long enough to put the oem bushings to the test. The deformation was profound and I'm sure it could be even more so on the trail.

My measurement of the shock includes both bushings and the hardware that will be between the shock mounts at 31".

I need one of these!

I asked her if she would make them for sale. She will. Fair warning: They are incredibly well made but time consuming. They take about 80 hrs to make plus $80+ in yarn. Figure in the $250ish range.

I didn't think anyone would be willing to shell out that kind of coin. But if interested, let me know.

RTH!

Can you help me pinpoint the cause of my idle and code 171 problem?

Doh!!!!!!!!o_O:censor::bang::cry:

I literally just swapped mine out. Unfortunately mine wasn't cracked so it wasn't the source of my sluggishness. Also, the fleabay $35 version was about 1.5" shorter. Wasn't sure if it was going to work but it worked just fine.

I might go that route too but tempted with the fancy HPS silicon intake hose....or just order OEM since it's actually cheaper

Bittersweet day today. Took my first 80 series to my new 80 owner sister today. I am kind of bummed out but at the same time it's great it will still be around and there is another Cruiser lover out there.

Cleaned my engine and went assess why my AC compressor is making a horrible noise.

But instead found a coolant leak in the water bypass hose (the one on the right side of the photo just above the pully and under the ID plate). I was able to switch it out for some 1/4in hose, but the OEM hose is 3/8in (I think). I plan on switching it out for the right size when I have time, hoping the smaller diameter hose is ok in the meantime.

Ignore the duct tape, thats on the fix list too :hillbilly:.

You can get a little better price on an aftermarket one and support a Mud member here:
Air Cleaner Intake Hose for '95 to '97 Land Cruiser FZJ80 FJ80 Lexus LX450
I recently got one from him (@Racer65) as a backup, in addition to some other stuff for my 60, and had good fast service/shipping.

Amazon Link please. I have two I dont need on the shelf.

Its a very tight fit but it works. Measure a few times before you stick it down. You'll need vhb tape also linked bc the tape that comes with it isn't that good.

It's like feast or famine spotting 80's here in Hawaii. After not seeing any for a long time, I've spotted a bunch lately. I went into full creep mode and took drive by photos.

I never saw any of the owners though, but always good to see more Land Cruisers out and about! Any Mud members recognize these as their own??

Also got to wear my favorite Mother's Day present. My man got me some more 80's gear (a nice addition to my 1FZ shirt) to represent with pride!
