J,

I need something light right now with the back muscle tear. Trying to keep as much going as I can with new product R&D, finishing the 60, maintaining Andrea's 80 and trying to clean and move. BUSY BUSY!

My first 80 lid weighed in at 18#s (aluminum and all fixtures and hardware) I had one on my 60 from Kevin and when I loaded it up... man it was a CHUNK OF LEAD.. I bet it weighed 150# HA!

I'm trying to get a list together of the people that are interested.

I will get the lids finished and dropped off at the laser cutter on my way to Spokane next week. So, I hope to have solid numbers back in a couple weeks and a good lead time as well.

You're on the list!

J

I was just being funny. I'm looking forward to seeing these. I don't really NEED storage in the tailgate but I will be buying anyway as mine is crushed in a little from the PO stepping on it or something.

I'm going to change the opening orientation so that the lid folds outward for more shelf/table area.
But then you couldn't access it from the inside with the tailgate up, like when you're sleeping inside and need that warm blanket you have stored in there.:(

How much will you be selling these puppies for? I am certainly interested in one.

It'd be great to have a gas pistol ram to help those with fully loaded tailgates take some of the load off when opening them. I plan on keeping mine light but heard this is and can be an issue especially for those not in the know that the gate is loaded up.

Camping and hitting the beach with the 80 at Cape Cod. Loving my new kelty awning tent.

Changed out bypass hose due to a small leak i've been trying to track down. The bypass hose ended up being the culprit. Appeared to be the origninal 25 year old hose. So I proceed to my local Auto zone and pick up a Dayco exact fit replacement hose. After several modifications and a lil Sumpin, Sumpin al mission success. Word to the wise, don't get the dayco. It was a pride thing at some point just to prove to myself I could make the MFer work, but in hind site Gates or toyota replacement would have been worth the money.

Not sure yet. I will be dropping these off on my way through SLC next week on another trip to Spokane. Usually takes about 2 weeks to get a price from my cutter.

Hopefully they will go into production.

Did my fuel filter after work today. Surprisingly it had been replaced at some point in the past because it didn't say Toyota on it.

More details on the Kelty Awning please. What name/model is it and how much did it run you? I'm teetering towards an ARB awning but this has piqued my interest.

Was a local CL find and I didn't know much about it at first. I Have a few things by kelty and have never been disappointed so I didn't hesitate when I saw the CL add. That was the third time I've put it up and it gets easier every time. 8 poles and 5 mins later it's up. Holds up to the beach wind just fine as long as its properly tied down. It's secured to the roof racks with a horizontal pole, aluminum, that has 3 tough Velcro straps. The cool part about it is that you can use it a few different ways, awning, lean to tent and as a stand alone dome shelter. It's big too. When the sun starts to get low you can angle it and unfurl a wing for more shade when needed, total plus to its flexibility. I would recommend it. The arb awning is quick and slick looking for sure but setup up only one way I'd imagine. All up to how you like to roll. Going back out to the beach later, let me know if you want more detailed pics.

Very nice, thanks for the info. I always like flexible and multi-duty equipment.

Owning the Eastern Sierra's like a boss......cruiser purred like a kitten even at over 10,000ft elevation ;)

Very nice! Where is that? Only place I know that's 10000 feet is coyote flats and wow that's a lot of water.

I got some new shoes for the 80 and Turtleback (315/75/16 MT/Rs) and got some OEM wheels for the trailer powdercoated to match the truck. My wife fell for the excuse "This way, we have four spares with us in case sh*t gets really desperate on the trail."

Also finished up the 7 pin trailer wiring (mounted inside the bumper to prevent dragging it off on a rock) and installed a MaxCoupler hitch.

Oh, and rolled over 255,000 miles on the way to store the trailer.

x2.

It's been too long since I've been down there. I can usually recognize almost any location.

:crybaby:

Kelty Carport (I think). No longer available, I tried to find one earlier this year. I ended up with the "Noah's Tarp", which is also now discontinued.
