What did you do with your 60 this weekend?

Been working with a local radiator shop to bring an OEM style condenser back to market.

First one for the later model 60/62 is here and fit is perfect. Earlier model should be showing up in the next couple weeks.

Due to the 60 and 70 having slightly different door shapes, the gasket being off on the 70 Series mirrors annoyed me a bit when I installed them (and made me worry about rusty bolts).

I’ve been meaning to try 3D printing a new one which matches the 70 mirror mount to the 60 door, but haven’t got around to it yet. Maybe a project for one of the 3D modelling gurus on here? Or maybe if there’s demand I’ll actually get motivated to do it myself

The gap is very minor, but it is there. I used new stainless bolts. Would like to see if there is an option for 3d printing a base to fill in the gap, but they’re still 100% worth it regardless.

What makes the 3F-E so frustrating to work on?

Water pump. 2F water pump swap in an hour, 3FE takes a week. Kind of an exaggeration but not that far off.

My 12HT water pump swap took me way longer than a week, but that was due to procrastination, not engineering

I've got some seat belts from SBP. when I went to install them if the front of the truck they did not match up to the to all the bolt holes. Was a little disappointed. Did yours bolt right in using all the factory mounting bolts?

New Red Head steering gear. I’m just 20min away from their Postfalls, ID facility so stopped by to pick one up. Cool detail they add is a plate that captures the adjustment locknut, preventing it from ever turning. The tech who helped me, their customer service is great btw, said they add that because they have a tendency to loosen once they’re been broken loose for the first time from the factory. That was new information to me. Anyway, super pleased with the quality and detail in this unit (this is not sponsored by Red Head) ! It’s replacing an original that had 262k miles on it, so nice to be back to spec.

The only issue I had was when transferring over this bracket to the seatbeltplanet retractor, I have an 83 FJ 60 and the bracket was held on by star drive bolts that threaded directly onto the retractor. The SP retractor had the holes but they were not threaded and the kit came with all kinds of hardware but nothing small enough to use. So had to go get some grade 8 1/4 size bolts and nuts to attach it. Other then that inconvenience everything thing else lined up.

How expensive compared to an 80 box? its the last thing I need to fix in all my steering components but i am hesitant on cost

SBP belts were a straight drop in on the front seats of my 1982 60. The arrangement must have been different in 81 only. Is it possible to just fish a nut onto the back of the bolt, like within the B pillar?

I installed the SBP shoulder belts in the rear of my 60 and that took cutting some sheet metal and designing my own brackets for the retractors. If anybody goes down that rabbit hole I have extra of the brackets for sale on my web shop.

I ended up converting the panels in the rear to look like an FJ62 - the plastic covers over the retractor and the shorter cargo panels. @TRFarmers is going to be repopping those plastic covers soon which is cool. I had to hunt down used ones and they weren’t cheap. I already make ABS cargo panels so I took a set of the 62 ones off the shelf and put them in.

All the seat belt stuff was a lot of work, but worth it in the end for a family of four with teenage kids riding in the back.

The difference in the early year models seems to be the direction of the #8 hose. The tube is directed toward the opening in the cowl, which was more
convenient for me since I didn't have the tricky hard line that routes the upward bend back down
