What did you do with your 60 this weekend?

What year 4Runner wipers did you use? I got some off a 3rd Gen and they rub and squeak on the little plastic thing that snaps on the hole in the cowl...
Not sure on the year, I used part numbers posted somewhere here on mud

Cutting welding drilling bolting, repeat. I have a basic plan in my head but basically winging it. Aiming to get my camping storage 2.0 done before our upcoming Mojave trip. I did a bunch of other small stuff too like new 4R wipers, new sway bar bushings, new rear view mirror ( OEM still available!), made rear bump stop extensions, and some other minor maintenance stuff.
I think you left out the add-a-leaf required for all that steel.

1- I already have the heavy springs, but that’s for the rear bumper, swing out & spare, fridge, 40 gals of fuel and 15 gals of water (when needed). 2- this is way lighter than the typical plywood platform/drawer setups that folks build. All done, the structure will be prob under 50lbs. This will be Rev 3.0 of my camping setup used across 2 vehicles.

The plywood I often see is for sure really heavy. Looks like it'll be a cool setup !

5.7L 3URFE is alive. Running and driving. Got to play with it a little before taking it to the muffler shop and yesterday ran it out on the highway a bit. Strong pull up to around 100 mph. Shut it down and it had quite a bit left in it.

I'd have to say this swap is stronger and quicker than the LS3 swaps we've done.

Well, started chipping out my old cracked gutter sealant. So far, so good. Got the wire wheel out to clean em up and the tiny rust spots on the actual roof ended up being the problem. Other than two spots above the rear hatch, the gutters are in really great shape. What should I do with these spots? Cut out big sections and weld in new ones? Never welded but I’m really particular so may be something I’ll look into to save some money.

Merry Christmas fellow Land Cruiser weirdos! I drove mine like 600 miles round trip visiting family across the state. I can't drive the thing without smiling every time I hear that turbo singing.View attachment 4055302
BFGs? What happened to the Mud Hogs?

You should start your own thread with this info.
That’s a problem and worthy of its own conversation, lots of experience on this forum.

Selfishly, I’m resurrecting my rig and have some bad roof line bubbling in a few areas. It makes my stomach hurt, I have similar issues.

I just may as I just bought a mig welder. Let the journey begin I guess haha
What’s crazy is there weren’t any bubbles. Just looked like tiny surface rust spots so I wasn’t expecting this but I’m a newb. You can see em below before I started wire wheeling. What really sucks is there’s some similar spots above my windshield …

BFGs? What happened to the Mud Hogs?
The Kanati Mud Hog 35x10.5x15 were wearing kinda funny and developed a wobble at speeds between 30-45 mph.
They had about 25k miles or so and were still half tread or so, but the tire shop wouldn't balance them, saying they had "broken belts". I don't really think anything is broken in them, they just wore funny, and it's probably an alignment issue as much as anything.
When we went to Moab at the end of September, I decided I wanted to get new tires before the trip, but I couldn't find another set of Kanatis fast enough, so I forked out twice as much money for the ubiquitous BFG.

I put new 235/85r16 BFGs on my 60 at the beginning of 2024. I put about 25k miles on them and one developed a bad radial vibration, I put Yokohama Geolandars on it and they’ve been great. I’ll never run BFGs again.

Yours may be great, mine were for the first 20k miles, but the Geolandars are much better tires IMO.
The one positive thing I will say about those tires is they take forever to wear out.

I love Yokohama Geolandars but they're always more than I want to pay lol.
I've been running BFG on my stuff off and on since highschool, and have never had anything to complain about other than somewhat weak mud performance.
I have the same tires on my Tacoma that I use for work.
I also love my stock wheels so I'm limited to what is available for 15's.
Are your 16's from a 70 series?

Yes sir. 16x6 and they carry the look of stock 60 wheels minus being chrome. I love them

Good catch! Stopping this now will keep your rig nicer for longer!

Installed Cruiser Trash FLRK on my FJ62. Install went well, the biggest PITA is attaching the bracket over the windshield fluid reservoir . Took about an hour in total. Love it. totally cleans up the old fusible link.

Looking good man! That bottom bolt for the bracket is for sure a PITA, but I got a recommendation from @RevISK for a small tweak to the bracket that will make that easier. In fact, I already have a new batch of the revised brackets in hand. Thanks for being a guinea pig on the first run!
