I started chasing a idle gremlin. Swapped carbs, checked idle solenoid, adjusted choke cable and it was off and on.
Moved some wires and found my problem, Of course after using the meter, actually 2. Both wires before the idle solenoid connector were hanging by a string. I soldered them it was fixed but I also found the wires damaged right at the rubber protector. Took the spades out and also fixed them. It finally idles great. Still a few things to do.
My neighbor gets a kick of me working on the old land cruiser. He asked if I was ready to light a match. Just when I'm about to give up on the old 2f and start thinking swap. It sounds like a sewing machine.

Wrapped up a 4Plus rear bumper install last week. Lots of rivet grinding, drilling, hammering etc. In the process discovered that the rear cross member has a couple of sneaky little tack welds, welds I didn't see under the grime, in the dark, and with my less than perfect eyesight. Do the hammock bars still work with the spare now? I love that mod!

Yes they will. I haven't tried the bars with the spare tire closed but visually looks like there will be no issue. If the spare is blocking passage of the bar the spare can be swung open for clearance.

Uhhhhh what? This sounds like a rad mod. I just searched and didn't find any threads. Any info? I do love me a good hammock.

Land Cruiser archeology. I unearthed lots of dog hair. Apparently, Land Cruiser enthusiasts worshiped these creatures. I have a hunch that loyalty is a common thread. Crayons and pennies are also common but . 22 ammo is ubiquitous in nearly all excavations.
Can confirm. .22 ammo and/or 20g shotshell, bottle caps, children's writing implements and dog hair appear to be of the utmost prevalence to this ancient culture. Some say the faint odor and stains of coffee was an aphrodisiac but nobody really knows.

I also found LOTS of dog hair, 500 .22 rounds in a box, and a few other odds and ends in mine.
It's almost like 60 owners are a similar type of person. At least secondary owners, not necessarily the original yuppies that bought them new....

When I pulled the seats out of a 60 I had a while back, I found .22, a 16 ga shell, the obligatory loose change, and a roll of fishing line. I also know that there is for sure some .22 rolling around my 60 somewhere.

Every time I "work" on the interior I find spent shells. I must have pulled 15 out of the defrost vents when I replaced the windshield! I bought the truck from the original owner, a farmer and concrete guy. 🤠

I wonder what "treasures" I'll find when I finally pull the dash to chase down the intermittent electrical gremlin

Are those beans in there? 😂

Yes!!! I'd bet they are Anasazi Beans since the truck lived it's first 30 years in Cortez, Colorado just down the highway from...

New headlight, new oil sensor, removed dash and gave the old oil gauge some well needed cleaning as well as some adjustment (yah slight bending) to reduce resistance.

Tried to get the 4HD light but the sender in the transmission is shot.

Managed to finnaly get the heaters working thanks to local help. Should be easier start in cold weather (hopefully)

Man that’s amazing. At least you had a free snack!

got disheartened working on floor patches on the dragonship, so with the driver seat out i test fitted my '87 4runner seat, all the while making vroom vroom noises n fake shifting. that picked me up. n it looks like it will be a fairly easy swap to do. as far as seats go, i've found those seats to situate my carcass the best.

Which 4runner seats did you go with? The firstgen 4runner seats are probably my favorite seat toyota ever made. especially the sr5/turbo seats. Super comfortable do they look like this?
