What did you do with your 60 this weekend? (3 Viewers)

Put in a new starting battery, new OEM e-brake cable, scored a spare A440 and split case for free and took off my hitch and bumper in preperation for bigger and better things. This week has been the most productive '62 week since July.

no hesitation for you is there!! just get right to it!! it’s taken me five years and i’m still not getting my frame coated

That is perfect for a healthy engine that is around sea level... Believe the calculation is the for every 2k' above sea level you lose like 2inHg. I am right about 4500' and run between 17 and 18inHg.

Rule of thumb is 1inHg per 1000' on elevation for vacuum and 3% of psi compression per 1000' on elevation. Higher the elevation the more you lose.

I moved from 6500' to 560' and my vacuum went from 14 to 19inHg. Compression jumped from 132psi avg to 154psi avg. Feel like I'm driving a race car... HA!

Thanks Jason, @Jasonredwood. Hey what rack is that? I like it’s low profile a lot!

Replaced my hodgepodge of damaged vacuum lines with new silicon from boostcontroller.com I’m very please. High quality that should hold up for decades.
Replaced my air injection switching valve and finally figured out how to rig this damn thing to force the air injection to stay open for passing emissions. Bad vsv1 and vsv2. We will see how that goes once the testing facilities reopen after the holidays. Been working on that since June...
And finally, I installed LED headlights from city racer! Thank you! I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! It’s a new year and a “new” truck! Thanks for everyone’s help and guidance. I’ve learned so much!

Worked on the rescue 60. Rebuilt carb. Started, ran then wouldnt.
Took airhorn off while on truck (pita), cleaned everything again including ICS...
(Those small linkage clips are a bear)

She runs again...suspect dusty sediment in donor gas tank..

Now the thermostat is stuck closed...so lean drop will have to wait.

Took it on a trail and got it covered in mud. Tried to avoid regular simple green in the bay this time, have to mix the safe for aluminum simple green then it should be cleaner again. Also took friend to airport. Only time it’s had surfboards inside the truck, bored while she was packing up so I took a picture.

VICTORY IS MINE....THE REAR BUMPER BOLTS SURRENDERED!!
Doing general rust remediation and underside cleanup. Front bumper fought a little, rear bumper fought like hell. Thanks to the mudders that posted how to use a C clamp to hold down the carriage bolt while using a breaker bar and 17mm wobble socket to get the rusted bolt off.

While it was off I cleaned it up and sprayed some rust converter on the backside.

I'd been meaning to post but it's been over a year now and I haven't...

For about $50 using a FM Modulator and bluetooth dongle (products I used linked below), I made my factory AM/FM stereo a bluetooth stereo while maintaining full factory functionality. I also upgraded the door speakers and did not add any additional speakers. Sounds quality is fine but you can't "jam out" too loudly. While I would love to blast Bad Moon Rising loud enough for the car next to me to hear, I prefer the fit, cleanliness and vintageness of the factory unit!

Plenty loud enough to hear on the road with 4 windows down. I put the FM Modulator on/off switch in the ash tray.
