How much of a pain is it to get another window in without breaking it?

Its really easy as long as you don't try to fit the crome retainer molding back in. I've done each window in my 60 series 3 times . Front is definitely the hardest. Second would be the small window in the rear doors. The window you broke would be second easiest right after the rear hatch due to the upholstery. That's a pain in the ass.

P.S. I have a friend that has some spares.

I got an inspection done. Guys at the shop were all amazed at the condition of the interior. Said that they have newer vehicles come in that are in worse condition than my 1984. Safety only on this thing here in Texas, they didn't even pop the hood. :grinpimp:

Variable coil spring up front ? Should be a nicer rider than the leaf spring. Spring rate ??

It's a 60 so you gotta keep it in the 60 forum.

Anyway, I like seeing your 80 suspension as much as possible. Gets me motivated to do something similar in the future.

I shouldn't have been scared, 10 minutes with a 10' piece of paracord in the gasket lip and some spray soap and I am back in business (chrome strip and all - only kinked it a little in one place.) I did have to give it two goes as the upholstery towards the front was actually folded over the pinch seam and wasn't letting the gasket slide over, so I just took it out and put the front lower corner in first and she went right in pulling the paracord.

I did call some shops Jason - lowest (reasonably close shop) quote was $125 and they couldn't get to it for a few days. None of them seemed all too pleased to quote the install a window they weren't providing. You must have a good glass guy.

^^ THIS, I just call my local glass guy and he can install ALL 4 pieces of glass in about an hour. Charges me 50$, SO, for that $$ its not even worth my time and headaches to try and do it. I'd say he can install a side window in about 5-8 minutes.

Call a shop or two and see what they charge.

Basically you got "quoted out". They didn't want the work so they priced it so it would be more than worth their time if you agreed... Yes, my guys are good and not greedy.

@reevesci you may have noticed your work on my roof - got the mounts in last Friday, thanks they are great. Nice touch on the metric hardware. Put me in the que for a rack to throw up there when you are set up again!

33's, 2.5" lift, lockers, armor and a winch. Used everything. Almost zero body damage - unlike last year. If you ever wanted to do it but weren't sure, I urge you to consider joining us on the Wagon Run next year. We had about 22 trucks in the run this year, but next year we'll likely limit it to around 15 to keep things more manageable. I really can't begin to describe how much fun it is. Just make sure you're armored up front, back, sides and belly, locked front and rear, and have a winch up front, 33's and a 2.5" lift min. With this setup sliders and rear end take the brunt of the "wangs"! Carry some spare parts. One 60 blew a birf this year, and was similar to mine in terms of tires and suspension. I learned a valuable lesson about checking knuckle stud torque after an 80 in our group sheared some of his. It goes without saying that you have to be prepared, mentally, to accept some sheet metal damage if you run the Rubicon. But this year myself and both my boys @justintpryor (his first time through) and @JohnnyOshow22 each driving their own 80's also got through essentially clean, as did others, and the trail was harder this year than last. Give it some thought!
 
@MountNGoat Are those gauges on your A-pillar? Any pics? Maybe i could join you guys next year i really want to run the Rubicon for the longest time hoping the 60 will be ready by then,just finished the clutch last week.

Yes, those gauges are for boost and EGT's. Here's hoping you get your rig ready for next year. It took me thirty years to do Rubicon the first time last year and now it's etched in stone as an annual recurring event.
 
New coolant....green stuff. Difficult getting to the darn drain plug.
 
1. Removed the old Koni rear shocks, and replaced them with new ones.
2. Topped up the second battery and put it on charge
3. Topped up the gearbox with Penrite 80w 90, and some Nulon G70 additive.
4. Knocked out a couple of dents in the lower tailgate (actually, I think I just put more in it - but facing out instead of in....
5. New globes for the rear number plate lights...
6. Drank beer out of the Waeco (Dometic) centre console fridge....
