What did you do to your pig today?

Howdy! Well, I got mine back on the road again, finally. Last trail run, a couple of months ago, I gernaded the front LockRight, twisted the DS birf, and sheared the DS inner axle right at the big snap ring. Since the birf bell did not frag out, I was OK on steering and rolling, just no power to the front left. Spent the next 2.5 hours doing the hardest 2wd low driving I have ever done. I found a couple of PS topside knuckle studs loose while tearing it down, so I upgraded to 60 series studs. I added the 5th knuckle stud kit from Bobby Long, along with his newer style birf and axle. Fit pretty good. Did all the drill/tap/weld work myself, so it took a while. Just got back from the test drive, which went good, so now I'm off to a club meeting. I promised myself I would be done by today, as this is my birthday!! It's the best gift I could of given myself. John

No pics

Spit in the eye!

Not so much what I did to my pig as what she did to me. I have bucket seats so the bun warmer heater is exposed. I heard a hissing sound while I was driving followed by the smell of antifreeze. Looked down at the heater just in time to get a squirt of antifreeze right in the eye. Talk about no respect! After all I've done for her! RUDE!

I put my new dash cap on and headlight guards....gonna repaint the area behind the rear seat and bed tomorrow.

I'd like to see pics of how the dash cap came out!

Thanks for starting this thread - I liked it in the 40 section, but this is Pig specific!!!

Swapped an altenator that an altenator repair shop in Guatemala was supposed to have fixed for me when I was down there with the '55. It was no good and the spare he "fixed" was just the same!! Now I get to do it all over again tomorrow

My lack of confidence in Central American mechanics has gone down another notch.

Hopefully the takeout altenator I have will be OK.

The local altenator repair guy here in Canada will have a couple of altenators to service.

that lack of confidence is every where here, last friday I leave the pour animal on the Lub to change the transfer case and the transmission oil, drove back home and sonday morning, surprise, surprise, just a little drive to buy some bread for breakfast, some extrange sound on the gears, check EMPTY.

buttom line ......................... don´t get crazy, not to kill some A#$$/%, do it your self

Let's hope you didn't do any damage to anything! I'd be just a little upset at whoever did that but I know the story will be "It's not my fault!".

Cruiser guy : thanks, hope that nothing serius come out of that, I will call the guy of the Lub shop, the owner will personally inspect and is going to get me a free oil change, at least they try to be responsable for what they did, i will go to check on your LV tomorrow at paul´s place.

Lucy: you should get that pleasure of driving your pig every day, pigs should have a walk every day ;)

I agree! Drove her to work again today. My Princess Pig is now my daily driver... my commute is only 2-3 miles each way. :)

Great thread!

Havent done much recently but I have "saved" up some time to work on the piggy. Still working on patch welding the front clip, sanding down parts for POR15 paint (brake booster, air-cleaner, gas tank etc)

Looking forward to getting the body off the frame this spring!

But I should also mention my wife bought a new cruiser, so hopefully my efforts wont be spread out too much trying to maintain it as well ;)
