The last time I drove my pig (about a year ago) I arced out the main power line behind the dash, and it took out a s*** tonne of other wires in the process.

Today I went after it. Total nightmare.

I've got all the nasties separated at this point, and will be replacing a whole bunch of them.
I will also be installing some extra fusible links to avoid this in the future.

The only upside is that the wiring (from the po) has always been the weak link on this rig.
Time to set that right.

Oh Mylanta! I know JMack is preparing for some heavy rewire work. Check out his build...

So....I'm fixing 3 of my broken window gears, and brought one I suspected was the early type to work...only to discover it was the later type once I opened it up.
The structures guy at work took about 10 minutes to model the part. He had the new one on my desk this morning. Apparently there is a carbon fiber filament that he is hoping to use if this one runs the window without binding.

I know the brass is a better solution. I just wanted a fix for the early gear.. Thinking that was all I had.

LC Nut,

Nice, Did you clean and grease everything in the tailgate? I have a parts wagon and it was so gummed up and dirty, I don't think the brass one would of survived.

Just gathering parts right now. I'll clean everything out before I test it. I have to order some grease that is compatible with the new plastic.

He said it is about 35 cents in material, and the carbon fiber would be about twice that...somewhere near 75 cents.

Out of everything I have only one that still works.
I just assumed that all of mine were the early type, and I figured I'd be screwed if I didn't find a solution. I was surprised when I opened it up and it wasn't.

Pugsleybell, congrats. It's a great feeling isn't it. Taking it around the block will have you smiling from ear to ear.
