Took five kids and the wives down Woody Mtn. road 231 to Bear Sign Canyon. Had a couple of Antelope run across in front of us, which I had never seen at that altitude before. And I grew up in Flag and spent many an hour in that area either hunting turkey, dear, elk or gathering firewood.

Past through a big portion of the back burn they did for the Slide fire, and they have all those roads blocked off, which consists of all the roads to the left side as you head south on 231.

So were you able to get see any of the slide fire burned areas from view along the rim? I hunted that area for years when I lived in Flag and after moving to the valley. Camped in and around mill park both sides of 231. Seen antelope a few times in Fry park early morning. Guessing the road to fry park from 89A where they did there back burns from it still closed. Was curious if you could get into the area yet. Thought about heading over from Happy Jack to check the area out but if that road is closed a long haul into Flag to get to woody mountain road. Was a another route at one time off 89A but not sure if it's still open. I remember when they closed the road that went around the east side of woody mountain (75?) as a wild life quiet area. Believe the other road up from 89A ended being a wild life quiet area also.

A wildlife quiet area? OMG, we need to get our land back. I get so irritated with the whole tree hugging left! Can't log, can't go offroad in the winter, can't do this that and something else. Ridiculous. God forbid you want to get firewood. That started getting tougher back in the '80's when I was a kid.

Yeah, all the roads to the east of 231 towards the Slide area are closed starting at the three way fork where 536 comes in from 89A at Fry Canyon all the way down to the East Pocket Knob lookout which is where the road ends. Not entirely sure why the area is closed, as it has all been back burned, so the risk of human caused fire at this point is much lower. Can't see an argument for soil erosion either, as you should be staying on FS roads...

Curious to know if you can get down 231 in the winter. I didn't see any lockable gates.

On the 80, I went through emissions on the second visit. The day before, I remembered a little late (in line) that my Ultraguage had to be unplugged and the port bolted back into the OE spot even though there is a pigtail port readily accessible. All the wiring is stashed behind the dash...

Cars 3 deep blocking the only lanes to exit. I stealthily drove over some curbing to get out of there = Mall wheeling at its best

How much do they search? If don't want to pull out the scan Guage cable and was just going to to unplug it and tuck it up behind the dash, but wondered if the search if they saw something coming out of my dash.

they don't search, they are looking only to plug into the Toyota obdII port bolted in its original place.

just unplug yours and youll be fine

Did my emission yesterday and remembered to unplug ultra gauge prior to pulling into the place. Failed the gas cap test but if you want they will give you a gas cap for free there and then you pass. The other option is to go buy one and then come back for the test. Needless to say I got my free gas cap and was on my way.

So Rudster, are you a 1 or 2 year tag guy?

Good reminder, I need to go through emissions this month:mad:

To keep room in the back on overnighters +, I got the idea from Stepmurr and welded up a metal frame for the new fridge. Opened up the rear for more camping gear! Bolts right into the existing bolt holes, has channel to hold the fridge in, and held in place with hooked turnbuckles. These mount to the HD metal handles on one end and welded eyelets on the other. welded on the tabs today and painted it up.

The fridge doesnt move and is very secure. I faced it to the outside so a) the plug in is only inches to the outlet plug in. b) the in and out fridge vents are facing the front and front side where they wont be blocked by gear in the rear. c) It opens away from me so I wont be tempted .;)

Clearing the rear fenderwell, the front tcase shift lever in 4WD - good to go! :steer:
