Just finally got my 1979 BJ40 imported from Costa Rica (full body-off restoration) on Oct 23. I was halfway through the process of getting her registered and the starter motor stopped cranking. I've removed and reinstalled the motor 3X and no looking at starter relays and ignition switches as the culprit. Local shop guy is checking the starter to make sure it's fully functioning.

Pics for attention.

I bought this old Dyna truck a few days ago…

Which has been repowered with this 15bf.

The plan is to use the motor for a hardcore bush truck, with a mind to possibly doing winch comps at some point. Compound turbos and big torque are definitely part of the plan. A month or two back I bought this old rusted 40series, the chassis is a bit on the marginal side, and the cab would need some Frankenstein patching, but it might be part of the project…

Hi mate, sounds like a plan !

Got my Blackstone report back

Just got back from Montana and to work on it. I have the mounts all built but need to pull it out so I can finish drilling and mounting. The throttle and hand throttle are done. Stop cable and clutch are done. Maybe some photos today.

Blew it up. Found this in the intake. Time for a rebuild.

I have the starter and clutch hooked up. Radiator in with electric fan controls. Does anyone know how the heater is plumbed? It has a suction line, 5/8 off rear of the head and 1/2 line from the front of the head.

Drove my fj40 with new 3B and 5 speed from Bj 70. Great till it blew the oil psi hose to vacuum pump. Was fine and all seems good. Old lines and it had set long time before I got.

Looking good! One thing I would suggest is to make a fan shroud that stands the fan back from the radiator, with a flat sheet like that you've effectively reduced the area of the radiator to the diameter of the fan. Here's the one I made for my engine swap:

I was thinking of that, but have little room. I did seal around the radiator to help the draft. Might need to change it if I have cooling problems.
