I didn't do much lately to the HZJ77. It is cold down here (by Texan standards).

I did get a couple of dome lights where the part number is for a newer 76 series (81240-22081-B2). I wanted to get all the trim pieces matched up to the grey color rather than the original tan (some yellowing tan) colors of the original trim pieces.

@sleepydad69 did the same thing to his HZJ77 but I am not sure if he ordered the same part numbers because I hit a minor snag with the new pieces. I already knew they are 12V but that is just a matter of the bulb itself and I thought I could easily just swap out the LED lights I already had but they won't work so I will need to get some 30mm festoon bulbs that go into the housing directly ( thanks to the advice of @ATL Cruiser ). Not a big deal and can get some with just a few clicks on Amazon. The original 24V bulbs I had saved did not work as a temp measure because the whole unit inside the new 12V housing is actually shorter for the 30mm bulbs.

hmmm strange, these are the parts. I just bent the festoon holder pieces a bit and everything went in like before. yes much tigher but it seemed ok. I did have to source slighly longer sheet metal screws for the LED bulbs in the old housing but that was really the the only snag I ran into?

I thought about bending the new festoon holder pieces back more but being new parts, I didn't want to break it. I figured just getting the smaller bulbs was a safer bet. I was still able to use the same screws because the missing raised posts is actually on the backside of the new housing (didn't get a photo of this) so it wasn't an issue reusing the screws.

His dome light kits are an Odd Iron product but is designed for the earlier 70 Series dome lights. We didn’t realize there was a difference and may need to do some additional R & D. 😊

** Thanks to @FJ73Texas for pointing out the issue.

You sound like an old buddy I had. 😂😂

@FJ73Texas here's the bulb you want if you're not into expanding things.

Update 12/24 …. Odd Iron has already designed a dome light kit for the newer Toyota dome light modules. 😊

Well don't leave us hanging now.....you have any details?
“Patience Young Grasshopper” …. 😁
I will try to get more details after Christmas. (The shop is closed until Monday).

Merry Christmas from the balmy north, +7F and winds gusting to 30mph

I wouldn't recommend heading south for warmer weather. We were 18° (F) at daybreak with windchill in the single digits and I'm only about 80 miles from the gulf coast.

Not what I did on my 7* series, but more what I did with it...Public Service Announcement, make sure your truck is in neutral before starting it from the outside.

If it wasn't preheated with the coolant heater, my fence may have survived. As it was plugged in, the damn thing fires to life in about a half a second. Good thing I used steel posts and set them in concrete, otherwise it may have kept going through my backyard with me hanging out the door or chasing after it. It lurched forward the few feet, hit the post and died.

I was on my way to the ski hill for a few icy turns, changed my plans immediately, took this as a 'sign from a higher power' that I should stay home. Maybe work on some projects. Maybe fix the fence before my wife gets up.

Merry Xmas everyone.

Guess I need to investigate adding a neutral safety switch.

Like it never happened. I had one leftover piece of cedar long enough to replace the one broken piece.

I told my wife that if we waited until close to Christmas we would get a bargain on a tree. Turns out I was right. 😁
