What did you do on the 80 this weekend?

Tucker,

Your presents from Dan are just plain boxes? Mine are always nicely decorated with bows, ribbon and fancy wrapping paper. Kinda made me wonder about his propensity for Martha Stewartesque adornment but I didn't want to say anything about it. To each their own, ya know?. But now that it might be just me, I'm really worried. Anyone else get those fancy packages from New Mexico??

Sorry Doug. Although I like to keep CDan's pooches fed as much as the next guy...I don't think I've been sending enough coin his way to warrant the VIP treatment.

I don't even get new boxes...mine are typically reused (which I'm okay with...no sense in killing more trees on my account), previous tag/sticker torn off, mine placed over top to cover the scar.

No...Doug, I think you're on the VIP list. I'm not sure if you're placing more orders than anyone else or if it's because of your history with the company...maybe that's what it is... dunno...

As for what I did...
All I did was FINALLY get around to installing the Slee Step sliders onto the wife's 80. It took me about 1.5 hours to do -- I had to jack the rig up and set it on jack stands so I could fit under with the creeper  But it was a GREAT excuse to buy another pair of jack stands -- 6 ton stands baaaayyyyybeeee :D

Installation of the step sliders was pretty straight-forward -- my arms were pretty tired afterwards though -- those suckers are heavy!
After installation there was a little vibration from where the front cat came in contact with the support bar that goes under them. I decided to drop the slider down a tad on teh front side. To do this I had to grind a small amount of part of the frame crossmember that holds the tranny. Just a little of the part that stuck out past the frame rail. A few minutes of dremmelling and I had enough room to drop the slider about an 1/8th of an inch -- plenty of room :)

Say -- anyone know off the top of their head what the pair of hard lines on the inside of the DS frame rails go to? I didn't follow them, but I did need to squeeze a couple U-bolts under them for the slider install.

I suspect they're brake lines...but am not sure.

Took off the running boards.

I didn't even start or sit in my 80.

I need to get active again and repack those rear wheel bearings (I bought the goods at least a year ago.... or was it 2 years ago).

OK maybe I'm missing something here, wouldn't be the first time but how in the blue blazes of all creation are spark plugs gonna effect the sound of ones truck??????

Brake lines.

I slept in the 80 for the first time. Took the scout troop to El Malpais to do some cave exploring. The low both nights was 9 degrees. The truck kept me cozy but it was still colder than a witch's tit. You know it's cold when the water in your Nalgene next to your sleeping bag freezes solid.

Temp gauge mod :)

Slee washer relocator and battery box from Dan.

Then I had to pull the dash again to replace a bulb that went out right after I put it all back together.

Took the stoooopid running boards off.
Layed under the truck and stared at stuff for a few hours.
Took out old courtesy switch on drivers door to make room for new one on its way from C-Dan.
Tore apart the D/S kick panel to see if I could locate the locker issue. (no luck)
Took her for a sandy 4x4 run close to home to see if I could get'er to lock up.
No luck.
Took a sexy young lady to dinner at the Rio Cafe in the machine...

Went Christmas tree hunting!!!
