Cristians mom tried to get a vid of me walking beside It in 4 lo but wasn’t quick enough. Lol

Lizard skinned the floor today. In the queue with a body / paint guy. Replaced a bad alternator (diodes) that was eating my battery a few weeks ago. Slow progress, but going in the right direction.

Got the sliders I bought from Clifton installed. The 4 bolts near the cats took 80% of the time. The existing threads were rusted too bad to get a bolt in without chasing which sucked. No clearance to get the tap holder in there and 1/8 of a turn at a time with pliers was no fun

Now to fix my headlights so I can actually drive it to fall crawl. Snapped a bolt so need to extract that and finish wiring.

any thoughts on additional sound dampening or is this it?

I probably had something that could have worked better than the pliers to chase those taps ;)

I’ve got some sheets of mass loaded vinyl bonded to closed cell foam that i’m planning on trimming to fit the mostly flat areas, and then some leftover peel and stick Siless (Russian off brand Dynamat) sound deadener / dampener for I think the roof under the headliner and other vertical / odd spots. I’ve ripped / wire brushed out all the old jute stuff and didn’t buy more of that kind of padding with my new carpet, so hoping it all fits.

I'm definitely in the minority here and perhaps one day I'll be a hypocrite even saying this but I like that these older vehicles aren't completely quite on the interior. I enjoy this imperfection.
Haha and no amount of work any of us does can really change this fact… your options are basically roar or dull roar. The goal on the 80 is a quieter inside than the 60… which should be a cinch!

I added a bunch of foam and dynamat. It’s not very noticeable but way less heat comes through the floor so still a win

I added a bunch of sound deadener to the 80 before the Utah trip. I did notice of difference but for the amount of work it took, (and added weight ) I'm not sure the payoff is worth it.

I installed one piece when I put the rear heater back in so as to not take that out twice and did the rough cuts for the front floor so I don’t scratch up the lizard paint (even cured, it's pretty soft), but here is what the material looks like.

MLV and foam will definitely make a huge difference. If you want the university deep dive into this stuff this is a good video. Measuring overall db reduction isn’t really a good metric because it’s only going to reduce specific frequencies and some very much affect human hearing and some don’t. In HVAC for example you can select louder diffusers in an office since the sound of air moving is one of the specific frequencies that very much disrupts human hearing of other noises.

The biggest change I would say in my 80 is the ringing of the panels is reduced (from the dynamat) which definitely helps conversation. Still loud as **** compared to my LS. I didn’t do mass loaded vinyl but that does the most once the panel ringing is stopped
