Adjusted panhard bar and found some rust. Also found exhaust fully separated YIKES!! Good amount of welding this afternoon and should be good to go for a while. Sadly found more near the sway bar bracket that will have to be patched at some point.

Felt good to give the 100 some love and turn some wrenches for a few hours. Patched rear crossmember in two places, welded exhaust back together (small pin holes now but so much better), changed oil, and found a blown speaker in the rear!! Hoping crutchfield comes in clutch with next day shipping and I can have a new one for the trip Friday!

Sucks to have this post after the last one in this thread lol.

Drained the diff fluid and started disassembling everything to at least get the diff out and pull everything apart. Larger pieces inside that wouldn't fit out the drain hole.

In my efforts to upgrade my axle to 8.2 once day, I found a locker that is compatible with the 8.2; however, upon reviewing the details, it states that it doesn't work with 4.56 or 4.88 gears. Why is that?

There may be a carrier break for gear ratio's. Skip the 8.2 and go bigger.

Believe I may start sourcing parts for a 4.30 swap, 100 rear and tundra/sequoia front diff oem 4.30s

What locker?

I read about those when looking for lockers in the 80. It seems they’re better than the eaton/harrop design wise but they have virtually no support and a lot of their dealers don’t actually carry anything in stock in the US. Aussie only brand essentially for now. Your mileage may vary but my 2¢

That’s a good point it being not us stock

Aftermarket those seem like the strongest and most durable solution from all my research though. If you can find it I bet you won’t have an issue. Nothing in stock for the 80 when I called around
