I swapped the consoles from the old 100 to the new. I just like the OEM look better.
Gotta admit. That's a lot of work for a purely aesthetic result. Especially when's it 1234°f outside 🥵

Current condition of the 1KZ!

Recently got the Throttle Valve cable handled, dropping the valve body was interesting. The one bolt that holds the TV cable and wire harness brackets on the top of the transmission was just about the biggest SOB bolt Ive ever delt with. We ended up having to remove cross members and drive shafts to lower the trans/engine enough to squeeze up in there from below.

Need to get ahold of flex plate bolts, trans filter, egt probe kit, and the gasket between the throttle body and intake manifold.

Oh my. Thats deep! Nice job you got this!

Alright, so working on the install of the F&R diffs and ECGS recommends Lucas 85w-140 Non-synthetic gear oil for break-in and normal use. I was at Advance Auto Parts and saw that Fram 85w-140 gear oil, 5 Gallon, was on sale for $54 ( total Lucas around $120). I'm thinking of using the Fram for break-in and the switch to Lucas, and wanted to see if that's a good plan or if Lucas is that much better and should be used only.

Also, if I buy the 5-gallon Fram, someone else can use it for the break-in period.

Yea, I picked up a 5 gallon bucket of Fram 90 weight for $49. Still on sale

I'd break in with the Fram and then use whatever your personal preference of gear oil is. I don't like money so use redline heavy shockproof gear oil

Truthfully I happened to have many quarts stashed from my mini truck days when it was the 1/3 the price. I do/did prefer a synthetic but after reading ECGS's oil recommendation letter, things might change.
