6:22am Sunday. I'm listening to hotel room silence after 22 hours and 38 minutes of jam band sound checks and gigs at Xmas Jam. And that was just the last of 3 days. Did I mention that I'm not all too fond of that particular style of music?

I know you're glad it's done! I hate jam bands too. ARU is more fusion to me, plus I love Herrings solo work. His two solo records were put out by my good friends label (Abstract Logix). I love Sipe's drumming, but he's too engrossed in the jam band thing for me.

ARU was great. Sipe was fairly restrained. He brought his own kit for the main show but played one of mine for a day show and bashed the heads all up - surprised me. He's done some really great stuff over the years. Jeff Sipe, for anyone who cares.

John Scofield Uberjam on Friday was great. I didn't think I liked him too much but that show wasn't like what I know him for. He sat in with Govt Mule on Saturday to close the show and it was just plain awesome. At least that's what I thought at 330am Sunday.

Dang, hate we missed that like factoid Kenny - we had a blast and had great seats. That ball that fell was nuts. Shovels and Rope did a real nice set too, but was disappointed with the lack of countdown this year. Just weird.

I think the ball dropping premature messed the band up for the countdown. It was weird how that played out.

By the pics you posted on FB, your seats were excellent. We were taking a smoke break when the ball fell but heard it sounded like a bomb went off.

As far as the Avett Brothers, I wasn't sure I would like them but they were awesome. I would go see them again. Sorry we couldn't hook up....this time.

Saw them at the Azalea Fest in Wilmington last year, they put on a great show...

Emmett Swimming "Wake"

Does anybody who was in college in the 90's in NC or VA remember these guys? They were from where I grew up; literally right next door...same neighborhood if you consider that GMU was at the end of my neighborhood. Their major label downfall was not being grunge or post-grunge. Well, maybe also a little too Smiths-like at times. I always loved them. "Arlington to Boston" is still one of my favorite albums, period. They toured constantly for years and stopped in NC plenty. I always wanted to share a bill with them but it never worked out. Like the Blue Dogs, we were always a day or two ahead or behind.

I remember them! Remember seeing them a few times during my HPU days.

"Hello darkness, my old friend..." But there's a woodpecker trying to interrupt by banging on a vent pipe. I wonder if it hates Simon or Garfunkle.

GREAT tune. I bet it's been in 100 movies now, but still a classic!
