Box Rocket
SILVER Star
Spent the weekend in Moab with some friends since I'm not going to make Cruise Moab. We had a blast and I got to test out some new mods. Tested my recently built Wildyoats rear bumper, and it passed with flying colors. Gave it some serious knocks on Behind the Rocks. Awesome bumper. Johnny deserves some well earned credit for that one.
Also tested my "cheapo" sliders. I have the Trail-Gear sliders designed for a minitruck. Some have been skeptical about the strength etc. These were untested and I was equally curious to see how they'd work. I came down on the driver side one really hard in a failed attempt at up-chuck on Behind the Rocks and it held up just great. I was worried about them maybe flexing into the body but they were solid. I also hit my passenger side one pretty good on a ledge and it did just as well. So my feedback on this very inexpensive slider option is that they work very well with some gussets at the frame attachments.
Oh, and some may remember I posted some pics of one other recent mod I did where I fabbed up a little bracket for my CO2 tank using my rear seat bracket. Certain individuals were convinced it would break and take out my 1/4 panel and even worse, probably kill someone in the process.
I'm pleased to say that we only had one small mishap where it came loose and left one kid with a concussion.
Kidding. As I thought the CO2 bracket was rock solid the whole trip and we tossed it around mercilessly in the rocks and on lots of high-speed trails.
Anyway it was a good time and I thought I'd share a few pics.
