My Dad came up this past weekend to help sort through all the electrical. He’s an electrical engineer so he’s the wizard in that regard. He found the PO had wrapped the fuse block with wire around each fuse holder to bypass all the fuses.

Today I took the transmission and t case to a friends shop. He has a hot water pressure washer so I blew as much as I could off. My pallet of parts came also last week. Spent some time painting stuff and welded up the battery mount that was cracked.

I still keep hitting road blocks. I was hoping to make alternator mount a reuse my H alternator but I gave up on that idea and ordered a $700 2H alternator 🤦🏻‍♂️. So ordered the alternator bracket and having to get a water pump pulley too. Hopefully that is the end of the part chasing…oh yeah I need an exhaust flange to mount the Exhaust pipe.

Next up is rear main, pilot bearing, flywheel, clutch etc and mount transmission/tcase.

Goal is to have engine in the truck this weekend to mock up motor mounts.

Praying it goes smooth…I don’t believe in luck

The anxiety I am Reading about with these roadblocks is building… hoping for a smooth run at this point. I mean ..the wedding is getting closer everyday.
Amazing how some PO moves are so useless and damaging

I cleaned the backing plate, and put in a new seal. But the e brake drum has a slight groove in it where the seal rides so probably a temporary fix. I’ve heard that if there is a groove it will leak. I saw the double seal housing Georg sells but just don’t have time to order and wait. It will have to be good enough for now.

@orangefj45 sells a double seal housing. I would add red rtv on the splines before sliding brake housing back on.

Yup!
We have our “dual seal rear extension housing kit” along with e-brake shoes and any Tcase component you might need in stock.

Happy to help!

Had a pretty productive day. Got the engine off the stand, painted more stuff, got the new pilot bearing, rear main in and the flywheel on. Spent a little while figuring out a way I can mount the H alternator onto the 2H. I don’t think I can get a 2H alternator bracket in time so I think this will work fine.

Harbor Freight has its place. 35+ years back I bought their 1” drive socket set with breaker bar, ratchet, extensions and up to 3” sockets for a few large nuts on some vintage motorcycle restorations…no big demand but it worked. In the last 30+ years they have proven to come in handy so many other times and even used the on giant inboard boat propeller shafts, truck repairs and as seal drivers. Price around $60.00 then. I don’t see it anymore on their website. One of my better long term purchases

@NOSAJ Loved our Silverton 37C twin Crusader’s but big maintenance though. ATE gasoline like it was ice cream…fuel tanks were 370 gallons. We were off shore a lot and I hate taking chances. I was in those engines a lot
