that shows dimension of cut out. What is dimension outside the plastic trim or the timer itself.

Bump for fall, looking into this for my truck, lots of good info in here!

You are going to have to drill some holes in the fender to mount it. There's really no way around it.

I used two stainless bolts/nuts on the lower plate and the arm on the back extends to an existing threaded hole on the fender.

Just a note that Glover-Ace is still listing the Thermo Top C for $799.

But a different link....

Has anyone compared the Thermo Top C with the Thermo Top EVO 5 or 5+?

Dan

Here's the product data sheets for comparison purposes.

Thermo Top C (TSL-17): http://www.webasto.com/fileadmin/we...eet/usa-heavy-duty-datasheet-thermo-top-c.pdf

Thermo Top Evo: http://www.webasto.com/fileadmin/we...ystems/light-duty-thermo-top-evo-2012-eng.pdf

They look to put out about the same heat, and use the same amount of fuel, but the EVO line is physically smaller which is always nice. They seem to be priced similarly.

Yeah I see all of that. Is it just smaller and lighter, or has anyone installed the EVO line and noticed a difference? (I'm guessing not, since they aren't all that common in cruisers really, and there's probably not many who have purchased both.)

The dealers near me haven't had any I could put my hands on to look at, which is what I really need to do.

The only hole I had to drill was for the exhaust and the bracket is rock solid. But, 3/4" x 1/8" flatplate, vice, hammer, welder, saw and a tape measure is all you need. The trick for the exhaust is to use a hole saw 1/8" larger in diameter and then fill the gap with FIPG after it has been bolted down. Stops water from getting in and vibration/rattling. The Toyota FIPG has held up for 4 years so far. I'll try to post some pics tomorrow.

I didn't need a hole for my exhaust, I ran it down the fender covered in header wrap.

I did drill two holes to mount the bottom of the bracket to the fender, and then used an existing threaded hole on the side of the fender for an extra support.

I think I posted mine in this thread earlier. It's been working well for a couple years now.

Would you be able to post some shots detailing the bracket and where you ran your exhaust? How did you secure the exhaust routing?

Didn't take a lot of pics. These are the few that I have.

I mounted the fuse holder to the arm of the bracket. I have since replaced a section of the tube after the pump with clear hard fuel line.
