Hi All,

New to the site but long time Land cruiser nut. My FJ-60 was stolen a while back so now in search of a clean early FJ-80. I have an LT-1 I want to use in this rig. ANY suggestions, insight, tips, sources of info for sets up that work and what to avoid would be much appreciated. I am leaning toward using a 4L-80 e (w/ manual shift kit?) in lieu of the expensive and seemingly weak/troublesom adapters. I do like the idea of the torque splitters though.

I have been scratching my head and can't figure this out :hillbilly:. How are you gonna put on the front drive shaft? Looking at the picture above, looks like the exhaust pipes are on the way. Shed some light man! Looking pretty good man:clap:! I wish I could see that thing in person.

See page 5 pic with truck and deere test...... It is close. I have a wee little dig on one pipe from a test run in wellsville. I had the truck airborn. The one pipe needs moved up about 1/4" but it is so rare I will just bumpstop that corner to avoid the dinging.

hey kirk, any chance you have these brackets up for sale, im about to order the adapter kit and wondering if i should bother with the ones from marks.

You are the first person asking. I wonder if the motor placement would be the same since you are mating a different tranny via a different adapter. I would be willing to sell you all the flat parts if you want to weld them up. The bushings I used are from a jeep application pro thane brand. Summit racing part PTP-1-502

So it has been 2 years and 7 months since I started this swap. It sure has been alot of work but the reward was well worth it. This weekend I finally dialed in the transmission programming. To me the most interesting and challenging part was getting the A442F to work properly. I would be glad to share all my wiring and programming info to anyone who wishes to use a PCS control. It is such a rush to drive and listen to. The difference in power and quality of driveability is hard to put words to. the shifts are crisp- it is hard to believe that it is the same tranny. I will post up some more pics.

Next projects I have on my list:
Making 15" Hummer style rims for the shortbus- I have 1 done now
Making a ROPS and roof rack for the V8 80
Painting the V8 80

Hi Gary.

2009 may be my western tour. might go see beno in NM. This season is already shot building a new house.

Yeah, I feel like you should go on tour and charge admission to drive it.
This is awesome man, good job on it. Looks like a monster!
Maybe take a video or something.

Congrat! You are now the proud owner of one BAD ASS 80!

You need to share with us more details about the A442 programin and a video to see and ear how it performs !

Congrats !

Congratulations on completing the build.

It looks like you're the first to (or at least publically document) install of a toy V8 in an 80-series.

Steve
It's not a Toyota V8. It's a Corvette LT-1 engine. Vrooom Vrooom!

Just read this entire thread. Wow. I want this someday - very cool indeed. I dont care for the 39" rubber, but 315's, 4.88's, and an LS1 would be very nice.

Will those PCS controllers work with the 443?

Just for reference I have a GT35R turbo on my 4.5i stock '97 engine (intercooled) running 8psi. It is fast for a cruiser and has 3" lift and 33's and some armour.

I raced my friends 2001 GMC Sierra 2wd with a 5.3 (LS1 style) 100% stock from a stop light up to about 60mph. I built boost from the line and took off first with him spinning. He got out of it and then back into it and simply walked me once he got traction. In the 5.3 one can install a used Z06 cam ($100), upgraded valve springs/keepers $100, ported TB $60, headers $500, and tuning $400 and it'll pick it up 60-80hp.

The cost to do my turbo would be around $6K-7K having a shop do it. Parts alone (ball bearing turbo $1400, turbo cast manifold $700, intercooler $250, misc. 2.5" aluminum intercooler piping $150, Tial WG $250, downpipe 3" s/s material/Vbands/bends etc $350, blowoff valve $150, clamps/silicone hoses $250+. (approx $3500 in parts) A 5.3 (ls1 style) can be purchased complete with all accessories/wiring/PCM for under $1k all day long. Then you simply have to figure out the wiring and computer trans programming in addition to an adapter plate to mate up the stock LC transmission and/or GM trans and adapter plate to the TC.

Not shure if I read it already. Has anyone swapped a 91?
