A few recent upgrades to report on, one stemming from a needed repair (grenaded front diff) and the others from a "while we're under there" mentality that's gotten me in trouble more times than I can remember!
1. 4-pinion front differential, completely rebuilt with an Eaton locker that's connected to an OEM 80 series dual locker switch and the factory (which I didn't know existed) dash light. New diff bushings and diff drop kit from Terrain Tamer. Diff was sourced from
@cruiserpatch (thank you!), rebuilt by Georg at Valley Hybrids, and installed by AJ Llano at AJ Yotas. Fantastic work, gents!
2. Rebuilt transfer case, Sumo 10% underdrive, 3.1:1 low gear reduction and part-time conversion with AVM locking hubs. Same as above, t-case rebuilt by Valley Hybrids and installed by AJ Yotas.
3. MKeith rear stabilizer relocation brackets. I bought these a long time ago but hadn't had a chance to install as my welding skills are "trail repair booger weld" only, so I had to outsource. Amazing what a difference this did, I've been driving this truck with a lift for 15+ years, including very stiff OME 863 springs in the back and the change in "roll" at speed is incredible. Highly recommended!
4.
@PerryParts bump stops front (dual) and rear (extended). These have actually been on the truck for a while but I hadn't updated the build thread. FANTASTIC product that made a huge difference on dirt roads, I cannot recommend these more.
I feel the truck is at this point pretty mechanically dialed in for my preferred uses. I am not a rock crawler (and IMHO the 100 series isn't a great platform for it anyway), and this truck will take me on all the trails I like to frequent in West Texas and the four corners area and excellent for long drives on dirt roads. The shock absorbers will be the next upgrade as the current ones are starting to show their age and they weren't great to begin with (basic OMEs).
Next big modification will be storage drawers and a sleeping platform that eliminates the second row seat completely. Next small modification will be a
Wolfbox rear view mirror that's been sitting in my office for a few months, I've been super busy at work and unmotivated to take the headliner down.
