This is the thread that we need to share with the engineers for the remanufacture project.
We got a few of the gray beards of Cruiserdom already on it, creating a master list. No one at Toyota is going to look at a 143 page forum thread for inspiration. Plus there are several supporting vendors on this thread who make a living on manufacturing or finding and selling Unobtanium parts.
Plenty of 3B stuff we can't get but it certainly could have to do with market.Correct, and the list I've been consulting on does not include things that guys like City Racer, @ToyotaMatt and others are already working on.
An example of things we've suggested would be the pistons for an 2F (@Onur offered some great justification on all his suggestions), steering box internals, early (tin cup) master cylinders, etc.

I think @Onur is more qualified after his recent adventure into the rebuild of his. I know there was some stuff hard to source. A head comes to mind. I will do my best to support this project as a hobbiestMake a list of the things that are holding up driving a 3B. I'd be happy to add them in.

This isn’t an US specific program.Be interesting if Toyota would support an engine never offered in the US. Never passed emissions here. Australia and Canada on the other hand had the BJ42.
Mentioned in another thread the LHD heater duct used with A/C. Would be nice to have a solid single piece versed the center cut out and flex hose ran between the two.
The header exhaust pipe used in other markets 1/79+. That ran behind the steering box above the frame. 79/80 runs under the frame in the US.

Did think it was. But been along time since other than a few exceptions Toyota does not sell parts that were not used on US imports. I have bought a few non US import parts from other markers. Would be a lot cheaper was available directly here.
I know the 40 series H55F been mentioned. Would include the LHD transmission shift cane as well as the transfer case shifter pieces some are the same as the 60 series but those are NLA.
didn't the 8/80 Later USA spec. FJ40 front pipe run as you describe above John ?
as always .........Yes it did. It have the extra small pipe that is for the EGR I believe. It is also NLA and could deal with it for my 79 if it was available. I run PTO winches and actually prefer the exhaust outside the frame. I know most pre 79s run the exhaust above the skid plate but besides tight with the PTO there is no heat shield like there is further back starting in the early seventies.
I have a hunch someone at Toyota saw this 143 page thread and said, "Hey, maybe there's something to this!"
And doing away with the V8 in the Tundra. Not cool.haha......not to get too far off track, and I think it's incredible they are even tempting us, but the 'higher ups' at Toyota don't have a good track record of smart decisions......they once looked around at the current offroad market and thought that the FJ Cruiser would be a good idea. They then bastardized the hallowed Supra nameplate. They then added more non-sense plastic and unreliable tech to the LC200/LC300 and Tundra. Then they stopped selling the LC in the US, citing low sales, which Toyota was 100% responsible for. They also can't seem to keep frames from rusting, in 2021! The worlds biggest automaker......its nuts! Oh, and lets not forget the weak ass engine they slapped in the new Tacoma.
But I'll keep my fingers crossed for some 40/55 parts.
