Just did a quick test by shooting just the bottom of one of the doors. Previously I had done the same with the mix that was too dark. As far as I can tell it is now perfect; or as close as it will ever be to perfect.

Yay.

Not sure if you can see the diffs in this picture....

Dunno. Didn't really consider what it would take to get a real mini-gun setup. Educate me.
I've got to educate myself first :)

I'm looking at something like the Iwata LPH-80... some say with the 1.2 E4 air cap (important) and a little extra reducer it can spray EP. Others say you can't spray EP with a mini type "touch-up" gun. The LPH-80 seems to be a small gun with big possibilities. I would try to use it with an adapter for the PPS mini cups/lids and liners that 3M makes - seems like those really cut down on the mess, cleanup and general heartache.

My needs are probably not the same as yours. I'm just trying to "seal/protect" the piecemeal body work on the cruiser as I go along. This gun would probably not handle the next layer of high fill, sand-able primer - but it might be a nice touch-up type base color gun for your doors or smaller stuff. Again I have no real experience with this paint stuff.

I'll also be trying to build one of those cool plastic spray booths like yours. :)

Awesome dude! I hope you kept track of the ratios. Will need you to send me the exact formula so I can replicate on my 40!

Unfortunately not. We simply took what was left of my OEM supply and the custom mix and mixed them together!!! No hope of ever reproducing it.

If I ever need more than the ~pint I now have it will be because I'm doing a full frame off, in which case I'll just use the OEM color.

FWIW, the OEM Mustard Yellow is shown below:

This PERFECTLY matches the paint on my dashboard (which has never been painted and has been pretty well preserved from sunlight).

Paint booth v2 setup (much more efficient the 2nd time around):

Doors are wet sanded with 600 grit and a bit of bondo (noticed some indentations after they were painted). Some epoxy primer on the roughed up areas where I sanded too hard and they should be done tomorrow.

I'm doing my tailgate plate as well as the hinges (which were chrome & I hated that) too...

While waiting for these to dry...

And since I had all the paint and stuff out...

I decided to do a quick touch up on my rear sill. And remove that damn CCOT sticker. They do _some_ good stuff, but their shoddy workmanship, especially in the power-steering system they added, has cost me so much frustration that I really hated having that decal on there. The only way to get it off was sand it off. So this was a great excuse to fix up the rear sill which has gotten pretty chipped up.

Too bad it only came off with sanding. Normally a heat gun will take care of old decals.

Considering you ARE a perfectionist after all, there probably would have been no stopping you regardless.

Nice work!

Come by and check out progress on the Pig some time. My thread, that is.

I would have done the same...as I am not a fan of decals...not even dealer decals :meh:

If there is enough paint left over, I would paint the tailgate yellow

I'm sitting there admiring my handywork and I realize thee things:

1) I have some spare time this afternoon (I seem to have a fair amount lately).
2) I have a HFS bumper that Bull gave me a long time ago that sure would look nice up front.
3) I touched up the rear, and the front was feeling jealous.

So I begin another project. Step 1: Remove OEM bumper and start cleaning up the bumper mounts.

I wire-wheeled the whole visible front frame and prepped with POR15. Tomorrow I'll do another coat of POR15, prime and then paint with chassis-black. Then mount the new bumper.
