Lonely? Just after completing the 'upgrade' of my garage with new cabinets and floors I hurt my back again (S1/L5). That and coaching soccer have conspired to keep me out of the garage.

I have not touched Uglina since September. My back is healing but we're in the final drive to get my product out the door. Summer is coming and we're going to get this baby back on the road before then! So even though I'm crazy busy, I'm going to get 'er done!

Here is the updated list of things todo in the rough order I will attack (changes since the last time I posted the Todo List in blue):

Completed:

1. Tear down front hubs/knuckles (done)
2. Remove front 3rd member (done)
3. Finish removing oil pan gasket (done!!!!)
4. Remove old gasket material from diff covers (done)
5. Remove front steering components (tie rod, relay rod, etc...) (done)
6. Remove LF Fender (to access PS box) (done)
7. Remove old coolant hoses (done. Thanks Bull).
8. Clean, de-rust, and paint: 3rd members, steering components, knuckles... (Done (powder coated))
9. Replace PS box (leaking badly). Box removed then put back on because I actually don't think it's the PS box that's leaking.
10. Removed PS pump; sent it to Florida for rebuild; got it back and it looks great.
11. Rebuild hubs and knuckles. Done!
12. Install 3.73 3rds with new gaskets & nuts. Done!
13. Replace Tie rod and drag link ends. (Done!)
14. Rebuild center arm (Done!)
15. Replace stabilizer (got a new one from Bull) (Done!)
16. Replace Tie Rod and Relay Rod (both bent). (Done!)
17. Install new oil pan. (Done!)
18. Fix battery, frame, body ground wires. (Done!)
19. Install new battery tray (requires drilling out a broken stud) (Done!)
20. Install new hoses. (Done!)
21. Install my Tuffy box. (Done!)
22. Fix rear heater fan. (Done!)

To Be Completed:

1. Drop tcase, fix Tranny/Tcase seal, rebuild as needed
2. Rebuild parking brake
3. Install new clutch fork boot
4. Install 2.5" Lift Kit. OME Springs, Shocks, Shackles, etc…
5. Fix speedo cable/seal
6. Replace PS hoses (old ones off, sourcing new ones (Shane!)
7. Install rebuilt PS pump, belt, etc...
8. New fill/drain plugs
9. Install new Fan & AC Belts
10. Re-attach smog gear temporarily tied away to give access to PS system.
11. Re-install fender and grill.
12. Fix windshield washer pump/hose
13. Install new calipers.
14. Clean frame rails (full of mud)
15. Put my new OEM steel (freshly poweder coated!) wheels on
16. Drive away

Stuff I've decided to defer simply because I have way too much to do and they were just "nice to haves while I'm in there":

• Replace rear drum pads
• Replace front disc pads
• Replace clutch
• Replace rear main seal
• De-smog

Bull's coming over today to take Uglina off my hands for a bit. Try as I might I have been unable to find the time to work on her. I'm ashamed to say that I'm "giving in" and am going to "let" Bull get her road worthy again.

I took the day off and while waiting for Rodney go the new calipers on and took care of a few loose ends...

(The rust on the hubs will be taken care of later, don't fret)

Bull came by this morning and we spent a few hours taking care of little things like getting the skid plates on, the clutch shift fork boot, diff oil, etc...

Then the tow truck showed up and Uglina went to Bull's house for a while...

just curious......i am piecing back together my 1/75 frame off and need to degrease and rebuild the front hubs. What degreaser did you use? That's kept me from touching that nasty front axle for a while. All my stuff has been painted and it is time to rebuild........i just don't have anywhere to degrease. Also how did you decide the old Warn locking hubs were thrashed?

I used this stuff called "PurplePower" that I found at a local Shucks or Autozone or something. It worked very well.

However, the vast majority of the grease removal was done with probably hundreds of blue paper towels (the kind that come in a cube shaped box you find at auto parts stores). Wipe a bunch off until the towel is covered and toss it. Get another. Repeat.

I never read the label... but if you inhail some of that stuff... its enough to put you in spasm's. Good stuff for cheap.

Ha! I drove it!!!!

Bull & I did a little shake down drive around his house this afternoon. Ran and drove like a champ.

Then I drove it home. Runs smoothly, full of power. Even though it has not been aligned it drove true. Still a bit of play in the steering and the brakes are a bit smushy (more than before) but it felt very solid. I even got on the freeway and cruised for a couple of miles at 60...

No top, no doors, no tailgate. Free....

Will update the thread with pics from the last several weeks asap.

7. (Re)install Tuffy box.
8. Fit & finish (paint) half-doors, rear tailgate
9. Put in roof bolts (to keep threads from rusting)
10. Tune engine (running rich, high-idle)
11. Alignment
    

Stuff I've decided to defer:

• Replace rear drum pads
• De-smog

A dirty TCase

One of the reasons for the leakage. Whoever last put in the tcase forced it in and scratched the surface and actually cracked the seal while putting it in. Bozos.

Below are a bunch of photos I took today. As you can see I got my new tires mounted on my OEM steel wheels and hubcaps. I love the "tall skinny" look of these 33x9.5 tires. Like the idiot I am, I only ordered 4 tires so I have not yet mounted my spare. Sigh. The bigger tires, 2.5" lift, and the 3.73 3rd members have changed her personality a great deal. Before she was really bouncy (jolt-jolt-jolt) but now she has smoothed out. The gearing may be a bit tall for hard-core off road work, but that's not why I have her.

I gave her a once-over with some wax and elbow grease and she shined up nicely. Glorious day here in the PNW; great for photos.

Still trying to ID a slight coolant leak and my e-brake is still dripping a little oil. Have a speedy sleeve on order for that.

Idle is too high and I occasionally get over-run, but otherwise she is driving like a dream.

I have a tailgate on the way and my paki-half doors will go on asap...
