I say go for the goat option. They'll keep kids off the property too. Stake em down with a 30-40 foot (inedible) line and he'll make good on whatever is above ground.

The wife said to get two goats and name one Bush and one Hog. Problem with that is I'd have to fence in the field and I have a feeling that the wife's Jack Russell would try to 'prove his dominance' which would end up in a doggie butt whoppin'.

is 10kw enough to power an entire house? I seriously don't know...i know a lot about the engines..but nothing about electrical.

Yes 10kw is really more than enough. You just need the extra boost to get the A/c compressor and fans going. Though I have seen people install start assists on the outside units to overcome the startup surge.

Preacher asked me to be Jesus for our Easter event. So I have been trying to grow a beard, anyone else got any decent growth?

I've got a mower in the background. :) John Deere L120 I keep talking about upgrading just havent done it.

I shave mine when it starts to itch. It's not really that I care to have one I'm just lazy that way.

Get some milking goats and you can start your own organic goat cheese company - you can always say they are grass fed :D

Been there done that... the first time they get out and devour your front yard we will all be having BBQ,,, or the when you have to put up with the blood curdling screams from them when the local dogs/coyotes figure out they are easy targets.....at 3 am...then there is the fun if you get billys and they are pissing on their beards stinking to high heaven.. did I mention the Billys like to suck themselves too... nice! always when we had children visiting...

The good side is I know how to geld a billy goat and can help you do it.

The times we paid a vet to do it he never used any anesthetics... tied the goat to a fence post, picked him up by his tail, used a razor to slice open the scrotum, yanked the testicle out and asked me if I wanted it.. I guess my look of horror the first time told him I was from the city...
Sprayed it with some antibiotic on it and moved to the next animal...:hillbilly:

A neighbor was just telling me goats have gotten very expensive... they paid almost $200 for a registered Boer.. I used to see them go for 35$..

About mowers, I bought a $3-4k mower from the Deere dealership, we had to take it back over and over and over again, until they broke the front bumper and blamed it on us, then charged me MSRP for the friggin thing....and denied they could have broken it.

This mower had the 18hp? Kawasaki 2 cylinder in it. First the carb went bad, (they replaced) then we bent the pushrods 2-3 times, they blamed our gas. WTF? I told them they were full of it and were just waiting us out of the warranty.

I own a kubota tractor, best thing I have EVER bought. That green paint sure is expensive to buy, repair and own. Never again.

I hear good things about the Husqvarna zero turns they sell locally for around 2500$.

My comment was in jest mostly. I have no personal experience other than a neighbor down the street from us who staked a goat on his property before building his house. The goat did a pretty good job of clearing the weeds and shrubs - nothing left but trees. There were no predators in the area, only snakes, coons, possum and deer.

Steve just get a 4 wheeler and get one of those tow behind jobs. You know you have always wanted one.

I think if I bought a 4 wheeler I'd never get to ride it b/c the wife would be on it all the time.

I'm thinking the pasture area will be allowed to grow up a bit for wildlife habitat. I'll probably have it bushhogged a few times a year and maintain a deer food plot at the end (about 100 yards away, :grinpimp:) put in some salt licks, and a bunch of bird houses. The edges will be allowed to grow up maybe a bit higher. A consulting associate of mine specializes in wildlife and I'll have him draw up a plan.

Now the front 2 acres will have to be mowed frequently. I'll immediately start on a grass killing rampage by mulching some areas into beds, but that will only probably save me 1/2 an acre or less. I'll have to get some kind of mower...

Or just tow it behind the FJ LOL:)

pay someone to cut it and be done with it. If u have no time to wheel u will have no time to cut grass.

I'm going to have more time to wheel and cut grass when I'm not driving 2 hours almost every day.

Now I'm thinking about something. We need some UC lawn mower derbies. Wouldn't that be fun??? :steer::steer::steer:

The wife has approved "UC Mower Derby Days."

This is what I'm thinking. First have a handicap qualification. See who is fast, who is not, and by what time. Then we run a course through the back field with those handicap times built in to make things level. I'm sure some beer will be involved...

lol looking forward to this one. I don't have a mower to race though.
