I used stainless bolts with some 3m sealer between them and the top.
What length rivets did you use on the roof cap cross strip that sits right behind the inside of the windshield frame?

Got the custom shaft back and it looks pretty slick. They took the birfield apart I sent them for fitment so I had a bit of a time yesterday getting it back together and all the balls in place. Got the axle installed, front driveshaft back in and filled up the axle housing with gear lube. It's finally a 4wd again.

I also made this skid plate out of 3/16 plate and angle iron. It uses the existing holes for the original skid plate and is very heavy. With the angle being on the inside of the frame the mounting bolts are no longer subject to shear force from an upward impact. I made this same skid plate for my 40 and can literally jack the whole truck up by it. Had it powder coated as well.

man that's a terrible picture. Kind of wish that I would have welded up the holes in the tub for the original tire carrier and latch.

The doors got new Toyota rubbers and I thoroughly coated the inner cavities with t9 boeshield for rust prevention.

Beautiful work ! Quick couple questions: What did you use for weatherstrip glue, I cannot get mine to stick! And could you show a pic or two
of how you wired your license plate light on the basket? I have the same set up and am just getting to that point to figure out where best to run the wires from the tub.

Again, incredible work!

PS: I'd buy a skid plate like the one you made from you if you were to offer them up!!

Cheers!

Thank you. For the weather strip I used 3m super weather strip adhesive. For the license plate I made a little sub harness that plugs into the bullet connectors for the factory tag light and runs out of the grommet in the passenger wheel well top. It goes to the bumper at the basket pivot. I'll try to get some photos when I go back over to Tuckers place next week.

Super, that makes sense. But of course another question...where did you source those grommets for the wheel wells for the wiring?? I have
not been able to find them anywhere....

Cheers!

you know I'm pretty sure we got most of the grommets out of those assorted grommet tackle boxes from harbor freight. I also make pretty regular runs to the local pull apart and try to salvage grommets from later model Toyotas.

Wow! Great idea there...I can definitely do that :-)

Cheers!

This is one of the most impressive rigs currently being built in my opinion, clean, technical, and overall well thought out. I am amazed every time read through this thread at the details in all of this.

Regarding the weatherstrip adhesive - get some of the red scotch brite pads and lightly scrub the mold release off the new weatherstrip.

Are those sliding windows from Spector?

They are. We had them on the last build as well and they seem to be pretty nice for additional air flow. The only problem was you couldn't fully open them with the jump seat in place. We ended up shimming the seat out away from the tub a 1/2'' so it could be opened fully.

Picked the top up from paint yesterday and got it back on the 40. New windshield seal and perimeter gasket installed. Just need to make a sub harness for the dome light and the top is done.

The inside is white linex as a headliner of sorts.

Great build! Tragic and still epic!!

Quick question, I'm mostly leaning toward Por15 for my frame and axles. I noticed you powder coated the frame and por15'd the axles. Any reason you didn't Poe 15 the frame after sandblasting?

Thanks!! Great work!!
