Great updates! The body mounts turned out great. The front wheel hubs look like they aren’t center in the wheel arch is that just the photo angle?

Front axle is pushed forward on purpose. 35" tire will be the size it runs and under max compression we want it a bit forward of the rear wheel well arch, that is where it will rub and if it does we have to trim the inner fenders. Pushing the front axle forward helps or eliminates this problem.

Super nice SoCal axles here, degreasing them right now. Doubt we even need to take these to bare metal for painting, just get them clean and start painting! 🤩

Ordered all the goodies for them, E-Lockers, ring & pinions, RCV shafts and rebuild parts. 💣💥

While these are real nice street axles this is a common problem I have seen on at least 50% of 80-series these days. We are nearly 30yrs out now from the end of them. These pics don’t show the before well more show the repair but what happens is the front radius arm mount on the axle gets egged out. To remedy this we have welded on chromoly weld washers. Longer bolts required but the nut remains OEM. 😉

About as good as it gets for a 31yr old knuckle ball!

Front axle mostly done, we were waiting on brakes to finish which showed up today.

Hubs ready to go, the knuckles, hubs and housing plus 3rd member (diff carrier) are all old parts reused in the axle builds. Steering arms and knuckle caps too. Most of the rest of the parts are new including the spindles.

The racing brakes, of the 17” variety.

The rear axle ready to go for rebuild! Diff obviously already done.

Both axles got new diff gears and Eaton E-Lockers. The gears are 4.11 and the rear are Yukon gears, for the front I could only find Nitro (no) and OEM in stock so we went OEM. Both axles also are getting RCV axle shafts.

Looking great!

Is there a supplier you like for the Eaton E-Lockers?

Any is fine, Cruiser Outfitters, Terrain Tamer USA or whoever. You need what’s in the box! Those are our first go to for parts like lockers or gears though.

Cheers

We have been gathering a lot of parts. This build is about to get going!
