Congrats on the find!

I have one of those drain valves. Bought it from someone on MUD. I was browsing through the FSM and spotted it so asked a couple of questions and someone said they had one so I bought it.

I took it apart to see if I could "rebuild" it, but no way. I really don't see how it didn't constantly leak. There is really not a seal in it. Still it's one of those rare parts, so it has the cool factor!

those jeep service tires are bomber. I ran them for a while. they are like hockey pucks

Yeah they weigh twice what a normal tire weighs. even with no air in them they don't look flat.

Yes stock wheels will be going back on. The originals were too far gone they were completely rotten where the bottom half was in the ground. Wish I could find a set of early hubcaps that are rusted and would play the part. I do have these I could rock. They belong to a friend who wants me to sell them. Maybe I'm that person.

Hose to the right I believe is the cowl drain.

I've got a whole host of things I'm going to need. Like the lower radiator hard pipe. It has a drain nipple on it as well.
Got to find a gas tank.
A early water pump. Mine is seized.
Going to need a front bench seat.
Just to start off.

Can't decide if I want to completely refurbish the engine compartment back to new but leave the rest as is or just replace the rubber bits and rock it. There is just something sexy about a F motor with fresh paint, yellow zinc plated parts and new stickers.

Let the tear down begin and the hole in my wallet start. Can only do this on the weekends and after shop hrs but so far I've sunk almost 4K in parts orders. If coolerman wasn't on vacation it would be even more. Got this far Saturday.

Getting a present from a friend this week. Looks like this motor will be sporting twin sd40 carbs thanks to this manifold.

Haha, F engine performance parts. That's wild, Are you going to run some sort of split exhaust manifold and duel exhaust too?

How old are those tires anyway? They look the business, but I'm assuming they don't make them anymore.

Those tires are at least 30 years old maybe older. They weigh about 80lbs each. Insane weight. Ironically there isn't any air in the tires in the pics. Going to be a rough ride for sure. No speeds over 45 in this cruiser. Strictly around town. If I went any faster the centrifugal force could throw the earth off it's axis.

@catskinner get some hi-po speed parts for ya F motor.

Yes but have you got the header to go with it? I know somebody who has one the was mounted and never used. Wonder if it's worth a discount when you get the early soft top made.:hmm:

Haha yeah cult
It's hard enough getting 1 sd40 carb let alone 2 of em

Finding the carburetor isn't the problem it's the plate that goes behind the glass that's a royal pain.:bang:

His "friend" also offered him the F header to go with it and he passed.... I guess he wasn't ready for that kind of power!! :grinpimp:

Believe at one time Jim C (Cruiser_Nerd) had a finned aluminum valve cover. Can't remember who made it but that would have completed set except maybe for three carb intake. Now that would be be some serious power pushing that iron brick around.

You could make up a 3 individual long ram manifold if you had some basic tools. Could run Mikuni side draft motorcycle Carbs.

Think of the performance! Earth shattering I'd say.

That would be a Clifford valve cover. I have one. Never thought of putting it on this cruiser because I love the old school valve cover and the original sticker.

The air cleaner I'm going to use. It's off a 240z. Always wanted to do this mod.

The manifold would be cool. But I hate headers. Hate them. They all suck. I deal with those crappy 6-1, 3-2, 5+1, 10-4 headers every day. Nothing beats a solid cast iron Toyota manifold that is straight.
