About to pull the trigger on a TROA soft top. I saw somewhere there might be some fitment issues… possibly too wide at the windshield channel. Anyone who has one, what do you think? Fit good? Good product? Let me know either way. Thanks!

I have OEM bows.

Ok you asked- I'm sure you saw my pics in the other troa thread. The top is at least 3" too wide across the windshield frame- it doesn't line up with the first bow- the seam above the door is too low so the doors catch on it-the tie down straps are made of a silky slippery material so they come loose- it fits sloppy pretty much everywhere. I have 3 of troa tops, the oldest one is pretty nice except the seam above the doors, the other 2 tops suck. I guess they are better than nothing but if you can find something else go that route.

Too bad Kayline, later STC tops went out of business. They fit the OEM bows great. Member here was going to start making top in Colorado. Was working on getting people from STC to help out. Turned out to be too costly and went overseas. Not sure if he even sells tops anymore.

Maybe some small jobs like this can come back due to tariffs. If I can't satisfactory repair my 76 HT, I might consider making a rag top. My 72 was a factory soft top. OP(#7) before me put on the 76 HT.

Making a good pattern is the hard part. 10mil plastic could work - maybe hot glue will stick good enough. Cutting out 4-6 layers of canvas at a time is the same effort as just doing one so to speak.

FYI: Theres a late model soft top and bows for ambulance door top for sale on Craigs List Philadelphia.

It's not perfect but it's a lot of top and parts for the money.

I had a Dirt Road and Real Steel on my old 40 and it had the same quirks as this thing had.

Is the Relik top any good? I am having a custom top made in 1-2 months by Est. 28 Upholstery in Colorado and I can report back my experience.
I’m pretty sure the Relik top is a TROA top.

My top was too wide at the front so I re-did the grommets and folded under the corners in the process. Fit nice and tight after that. I had some other fitment issues but nothing insurmountable.

While the top is definitely not perfect, I got mine to fit very well. Takes some massaging as someone else said.

That looks sharp

Thanks, it matches the rough around the edges aspect of the rest of my truck.
My truck isn't an FST and you might have noticed I installed the twist locks lower than the tub lip as in the FST.
