The shop troll (or some other nefarious being) seems to have eaten a rather critical part. There is a spacer I need that goes between the 4-speed transmission and the transfer case... it's no longer available from Toyota. This one, in green:

I guess Toyota calls it a "stopper", part number 36213-60011. From a Toyota parts fiche:

It's from a 1975, no PTO setup. I can fabricate another but I need the inner diameter and length (the OD is less critical). Can anyone help me out!? In the meantime I'll keep digging around my garage... I had the part when I separated the x-fer and tranny last week. Hm.

Thanks

Calvin

Thanks @php74 . I just called my local dealership and they ran an inventory search. No dice. No easy dice, at least.

Hoping I find it, or someone can provide the dimensions!

Leave a message at the shop and I will measure one. I would also be interested in buying a couple, if you're gonna make this.

Thanks, will do. Can you point me to your contact info?

Umm, it's in my sig line.

Well figures I reassembled mine and didn't realize that spacer was needed. Its kind of hidden in the FSM.

But I ordered the one from the link php76 provided. We will see if it actually ships. If you happen to get actual measurements let me know.

I had to make the rear spacer so I have material to make the spacer if I go the dimensions.

@velillen unless your spacer fell off the H42 before you installed it, you most likely never even realized it was there. It basicslly mimics the inch thick extension/adapter plate that is bolted to the back of the trans. You're not the first guy who thinks their setup didn't have one. Trust me, if it were missing, you'd have found out about it.

I actually just looked more indepth in the in the FSM...that spacer is shown in the Transmission section and not in the Transfer case section where I thought it would have been.

Ill have to pull mine apart again and look and see if it was there or not. Im coming from a TH350 with adapter to my T-case to swapping a H42 to the same transfer case. So I was missing a couple pieces already. I honestly didn't look to closly when I installed it since I didn't even know about it!

and you beat me and posted before I could edit my message!

I will take that as a thank you.;)

All right, a follow up: I spoke with @65swb45 (Mark) yesterday and got the dimensions. I'm looking into either fabbing my own or having them CNC'd. I'll update this post when they're complete in the event someone wants extra. In the meantime, this stopper's dimensions (thanks Mark!):

Length (Most Critical Dimension): 23.5 mm
Inner Diameter: 32.5 mm (makes sense as the splined shaft is a 32 mm OD)
Outer Diameter: 50.0 mm

Mark, I should have also asked for the PTO spacer dimensions. If I'm having some of these made I might as well make both. Yeah?

Regards

Calvin

I know this problem well! I left the spacer out when I rebuilt my tranny and tc. It will not shift properly without it! :) I pulled the tranny and tc back out took it to a tranny place. He caught the problem as soon as he took it apart. I swore I didn't have the spacer until I looked and found it in a bin of stuff. I think it fell out when I separated the cases and fell on shop floor.

Glad you are getting it worked out! I just deleted tbe mechanics text that gave the dimensions he thought it should be. Like someone said.....you aren't the first one to do it.

You were right it was there :) Still pulled them apart an inch to look and there it was lol. So thanks again!

Did this 'Spacer' or 'Gear Stop' ever get made?

Asking because I recently rec'd a NOS H41 trans that had an 'accident' in shipping (wasn't secured well and punched thru the box), and this spacer was lost ...

It's replacing a 3spd that doesn't have that spacer.

I didn't make them, no. I had several projects underway that all took a back seat when I started my new job. Good luck!

I can ask the guys that make my PTO spacers about this.

I've been talking to the Gentleman I bought the Transmission from and he is having a Machine shop that does work for Siemens replicate these spacers in a higher quality material (it's what they have) at a 0.01 tolerance ... He has a NOS one they are taking measurements from... They're simple things, actually.

Cost will be about $50/unit - could be slightly higher/lower depending on how many are made.

If anyone is interested, let me know tomorrow as they're are being made in the next day or two.

Thanks.
