Required for legal reasons... Technically every tractor in Sweden is a car... And has to have insurance and things...

On the plus side I can use it to get pizza
In case Andy breaks down… ;)

In case? It's been sitting with no battery and a leaky fuel tank for 2 years.

Another year and the blackberries will be wrapped completely through it.
I don’t think BCAA will tow him home any more… if his ride “breaks down” at the bar either.

The bucket with a foamy could be almost comfortable… ;)

Small victories that remind me why I’m a gear head.

picked up one just like this.

it’s old…. pre-internet. The cracked gas tank long obsolete.

1) got it to run enough to know it would.
2) found that a used Shindaiwa line trimmer tank fit with a few adjustments.
3) trimmed a number of bushes and was very impressed by what it’ll do… and crazy fast. Up to 3/4” - instantly. Over 1” it’ll even saw through.
4) installed a carb kit because it wouldn’t run right… this is where being a gear head comes in.

There are no manuals that cover this model available so I was flying blind. After installing a new diagram and a bit of tinkering it was running, but would flood if the tickler wasn’t depressed.

Any thoughts on the problem?

It’s a vertical slide TK2 carb. Impossible to get OEM parts for, quiet rare. Overall a very fine piece of Japanese engineering.

After some head scratching I came to the conclusion that the needle and seat in the fuel pump wasn’t closing right. Fuel pump was pumping unrestricted.

Opened up the carb, examined the arm that pushes down the needle wasn’t in quite right. Examined the wear on the arm and reinstalled it correctly to match the wear.

After a couple pulls it started… Victory. It now starts in about 1/2 a pull. :grinpimp:

Throttle response is smooth… it’ll just need a final mixture adjustment once it’s fully warmed up.

And no more flooding. ;)

Looking for options to cut down into the edge of the pond without rolling over /getting wet... Also for cutting some bits on the steeper hills / areas I can't easily get with the 3pt mower

Found this in the local auction site

Anyone have any idea how these sorts of mowers are for cutting grass /weeds... Thinking I could weld up some sort of frame and raise / lower it or build a mount for the loader....

There are two of them up for auction right now....

This looks like it works on the same principle but a somewhat smaller scale…

It’ll cut through grass, weeds, brush, etc. Larger than a half inch in diameter it has to saw through, but everything else it’s like a hot knife through butter. I’ve cut hay with it… :D

I’d imagine the sickle bar mower would do equally well. Probably for over a half inch I’d recommend a bush cutter to tame it first then mow it down.

I’ve got a C350 like this for grass-4” clearing. It’s a lot of fun… with a weed eater head it’s also a blast. At 1.8 hp it’ll rip through 1” Himalaya Blackberries like nothing. Keep bystanders we’ll back, I’m sure it’ll throw stuff like bullets.

I even saw a video where the 8” carbide blade cut through a steel pipe chain link fence post.

Gets a little puckery on the side hills does it?

Can you back straight down the steep bits ?

If it's not a big area you're talking something like a Stihl Kombi maybe? Can get a trimmer for the tall s*** then. Might be easier than mounting the sickle bar?
I have the saw blade on a straight shaft weed whacker and it'll take out the old growth broom with 3" stalks.

I’d recommend the Kombi (although I’ve not used) or a larger straight shaft trimmer, I’ve got a straight shaft and can switch from 8” carbide blade to line in couple minutes. The line trimmer cuts about 20” at a time and has a 2m pole to help keep your feet dry.

Yeah and there's a hedge trimmer attachment as well as a pole saw.

Both of which I kinda wish I had. I'll get one at some point, but one expense at a time.

Ya I have a weed eater with a blade as well as saw and hedge trimmer attachments. I probably can back down... Would just be a lot faster to be able to drive around and also to do all the edges under the trees and stuff... Or at least that's my thoughts...

Do the rims reverse on your tractor or anything to get a wider stance?

My old Kubota they just kinda slide out and pin. I keep meaning to widen it because it's sketchy as ****, feels like it's going to tip over when a tire drops into a pothole.

Why I like the big JD lawn tractor for mowing the dodgy bits. Reversed rims make it have a loooow cog.

If that's anything like my jd400 , that's a good deal.

I looove that old beast. The amount of work it's done clearing land is unreal.

Plus it scares the s*** outta swmbo :hillbilly:

Wish I'd had the time to go look at it. Not that I need it on my little property; just that urge for another project is all. I figured it was a good deal when I saw it; seems it sold quickly too.
