Your tach and sniper get signal from the same (-) coil. I effed up and hooked the tach to positive side of coil and now it doesn't workHmmmm.... I think you might be correct.... the brown may be for a digital gauge...
I have to look to. Easy to forgetI spliced the pink wired with the green where the carb plugs in. The plug was deteriorating so I just cut the wire. Is that right? Or should it be the black wire? I’ll snap a photo in a minute.
Oh man. That is cool. I really need to do this to mine. They look so old.Jump to 2020 and everything got crazy. As if I needed to point that out again to anyone...
This is when I decided to move into the truck and get after things once and for all.
I started with body mounts knowing I would be lifting the truck. My new jack would be able to lift the truck from the frame and axles but I wasn’t sure if I could reach the pinch welds on the body to lift it high enough to get the old bushings out and new ones in.

I ordered a kit from 4crawler after checking, rechecking, and re-reading that website about a hundred times. The bushing kit is fantastic. Don’t let the website fool you... View attachment 2785811View attachment 2785810View attachment 2785813View attachment 2785814I did reuse a few of the OEM bolts and washers because I forgot to order the extra washers from 4crawler. They were in good shape so I felt okay with it.
Wow, what a difference that made. I was kinda shocked at how much smoother it handled and shifted just from fixing body mounts. I highly recommend it to anyone who has passed over that job for other more “fun” projects.
Its pretty easy actually. There were a few moments where having a proper lift would have been nice. I didn’t take many pictures of that job because I had to get it done quickly. I used about a 3-4 foot length of 2x4 on the pinch welds here to disperse the weight of the body a bit.Oh man. That is cool. I really need to do this to mine. They look so old.
Was it difficult? How did you do it? Do you have some pictures to shared.
I would love to do this to mine early next year.
Thanks
Ac as in air conditioning??Ahhh. Yellow wire! I got it wrapped up in loom and hard to trace without cutting zip ties. It's been a year and a half so not as fresh in my memory. I do remember the ac is connected to the tach signal.
Great. Good tips. I am thinking about attempting this sometime next year. Its pretty easy actually. There were a few moments where having a proper lift would have been nice. View attachment 2803141It wasn’t the most fun but if you take your time and are carful with the jack the body lifts up with minimal movement of the pinch weld. I defiantly wouldn’t try it without the 2x4.
If I recall I loosened all the bottoms and kept the nut in place just so the bolt wouldn’t lift out of the frame. I then worked from the front to the back on one side, then to the other side and repeat. Then torque them all down once everything is installed and the jack is no longer holding anything in the air.
For the very rear mounts there are little secret Narnia doors under the truck at the very back most panel. Remove them and you can access the top of the bolt. View attachment 2803143The rest are easy to access. Just pull the carpet back above the body mount and you’ll find the bolt head. This was not the most difficult job I’ve done so far. In fact it was maybeif that. But the rewards were well worth the effort. Seriously. Body mounts are often overlooked. I could feel the body shifting when I would brake or shift gears. I also used to have a heck of a time getting the valve cover off the engine before installing the new mounts.

Do you have the link where you got the kit by any chance?
Thanks again.
Lol I should read the instructions all the way... even for bits that don’t apply to me!Ahhh. Yellow wire! I got it wrapped up in loom and hard to trace without cutting zip ties. It's been a year and a half so not as fresh in my memory. I do remember the ac is connected to the tach signal.
Thanks F! Sometimes when I get frustrated with it I look at your thread and say “damn she’s in a covid ward and rebuilding an engine and raising a son... I have to get this done!”“While living in my truck.” Well GD, I had no idea Chris! Hope your dog is feeling better now that he has a diagnosis.
And holy sheet to all that top notch work!
In other news, after battling with advance auto/carquest for an authorized battery warranty I got a new group 34 agm diehard battery and installed it.
Using my ‘official’ Toyoda SST I made myself a battery hold down bracket. Almost OEM...toyotamatt will never know!!View attachment 2803020View attachment 2803021View attachment 2803022View attachment 2803023View attachment 2803024
How old is he?Thanks F! Sometimes when I get frustrated with it I look at your thread and say “damn she’s in a covid ward and rebuilding an engine and raising a son... I have to get this done!”
I’ve been waiting to move forward with serious treatment for Hendrix because they want to start him on prednisone and I feel like that is an early death sentence. I was actually reading some clinical studies that were done around 2012-14 talking about hydroxychloroquine being used along with some topical ointments daily that completely reversed discoid Lupis in dogs in some very very severe cases. Who’da thought HCQ was gonna work for lupis??? I gotta find a vet who’s willing to read the literature with me and try it out. His case isn’t as severe as it could be but it does cause him some discomfort and I suspect it’s causing his grumpiness lately.
