Friend

in the manual shop does not specify the asparagus torque, it is safe.

Thank you very much for the reply

I am not sure what you mean by 'asparagus' because that is not an automotive term here.

The knuckle arm nuts you circled in red are torqued to 71 foot-pounds.

The nuts on the studs or the studs in the knuckle themselves?

Check your asparagus! Otherwise, smelly pee isn't the only thing you'll experience when your steering arm falls off.

I believe you are asking about the Studs (they look like asparagus).
I also believe there is no torque listed in the Service manual for those studs.

What dimension did I just wake up in??? Am I to go to my next club meeting and discuss asparagus torque values so that it seems like I know what I'm talking about??? Do you guys just pop the plug in the top of the knuckle and start cramming the asparagus in there? How much is too much? Gotta go to Kroger...

wow, i think you're right. mystery solved. inverted torx = asparagus

According to information I have, The torque for the STUD is 49Nm or roughly 36ft-lbs
The torque for the NUT is 123Nm or roughly 91ft-lbs.
I know That is different than the FSM, but it also came from a solid source.

TORQUE ASPARAGUS is my new band name.

got to 22 seconds for the question and 2:23 for the response....

The guy translated straight from spanish, that´s how we call them studs here...that being said...métele 36 libras y un poco de locktite y ya vas tranquilo, o los cambias por tornillos esos pernos y le pones sus arandelas y le metes 71 libras, igual con locktite

I am quite the catch, in fact, I have been told that I am quite an asparagus.

Have you calculated yield for those fasteners? IIRC, it's pretty close at the FSM (71ft/lb) torque, not a lot of room for additional load/stress?
