I can't get over how cool you retro color theme looks. Nice job! Are the wheels the stock 18's painted?
Thanks!I can't get over how cool you retro color theme looks. Nice job! Are the wheels the stock 18's painted?
How about stock suspension? Any of the 200's still havre it?The 100 didn't have any armor but it took a thrashing.
I wouldn't even think of attempting that route without at least sliders and the knowledge that your stock bumpers were going to get hosed.
Well that's good to know. I have the 17" Rock warrior's and BFG KO2's.....but that about it, the rest is stock at this point. With a good spotter, you can get by Poison Spider with a stock rig (tires would help). Possibly some rear bumper scrapes but nothing awful. Poison Spider is a fun rock crawling trail to pop your cherry on.
Very cool that'd be awesome. So in your opinion, in general for my priority order of upgrades Id be best off getting sliders 1st, then upgrade suspension down the line?Get some sliders and you'll be fine for most stuff. If you go on this trip we can do Poison Spider. After @Atwalz and I did PS the first day I was happy to go back for the second run. It's a fun trail with great views.
Maybe I'll do sliders 1st, I cant afford sliders and lift both at this point, and sliders are a smaller expense. My wife subscribes to the "replace it when it wears out" theory, so at 90k on the stock suspension it's still got some life on it. I subscribe to the "upgrade when i replace" theory so OME or Icon are what I'm thinking when i get to that point. My running boards on the other hand even around Phoenix on my mild newbie trails have taken some hits, so to avoid further damage I should probably get some sliders. They're both important. But if I had to only choose one, sliders. Just my personal opinion though.

The way I look at it, you can scrape and power through some sticky situations on sliders and not worry about damage if you don't have clearance from a lift. But if you only have a lift and no sliders, you need to be much more careful to not damage your vehicle due to lack of armor even though you have a clearance from a lift. If that makes sense.
Just different schools of thought. Ultimately, lift, sliders and tires are the holy trinity. You can do some gnarly stuff with just those three in a 200.
You caught onto my master planAnother way of looking at your wife's "replace when it wears out" thing?
-Beat the tar out of your plastic bumpers...and VOILA!!! They're "worn out!!"
REPLACEMENT TIME!!
...only this time, instead of spending on plastic...spend $1700 on a real, armored bumper(s)!
Leads to seats filled like this!...

Perfectly put! This sounds like the logical talk that might actually get me somewhere with my wife. It would unpractical NOT to get armor. I'm going to slowly use you exact logic and work it into all my daily conversations from this point out. BIG help, thanks bud!I've been thinking about armor cost vs. damage costs without it.
The damage you DON'T end up paying for can easily = roughly 3x more (and up) than the cost of the armor...PER INCIDENT.
Had my Slee rear not saved my right side in Hell's Gate?
-Could have easily hit $8-12K to fix.
Had my TJM T13 not saved my hood, grill, radiator & stock bumper (& maybe a light or two)...
-Easily 3x what the TJM cost--not to mention a ruined Breck trip and wasted hotel stays.
Sliders? Door panels & rockers are not cheap.
-WAY more than a $900 set of sliders.
Armor isn't just cool...
It saves cool cash if you wheel.
