Getting Close

Had a small but efficient turnout yesterday. Stumpalama, Von Hayek and I got several things done despite the heat! Thornton showed up with Little Cruiserhead and dropped off the air cleaner housing.

Carb, wheels, tires, and license plate bracket/lights are mounted and looking good. Bart also mounted two of the four shocks and the spare tire carrier while Stump mounted the driver seat.

What stopped further progress was:
- We are missing rubber bushings for one of the front shocks; the boxes were torn open in transit so I suspect the rubber bushings fell out and were lost
- We also need 4 castle nuts and 4 washer sets to mount the remaining two shocks
- We need the tire carrier bumper and latch plate
- The air cleaner housing needs some love and a few gaskets
- The passenger seat bracket needs some paint

What remains to be done? Lots of small details. Some paint touch-up on the windshield frame, mount the windshield, install wiper assembly, door bushings and passenger door, and finish the electrical commissioning tests by Professor Ed.

I just had 30 more of the tire carrier hooks reproduced. I think I can spare one.;)

It looks like you may need a steering column shield. If so, let me know on that as well.

Perhaps you could ask Jim C. could donate some air injection plugs that are a little less:hillbilly: so his name and business can be associated with the build as well.

I've got the following coming for you guys:

1. Carb gasket for the top to air filter housing.

2. Windshield Gasket

3. Wiper motor gasket.

Will ship out next week to Jon.

Regards.

hey if you guys are still missing parts emails me FJ40_landcruiser@cox.net (AZLCA) I have a large stock of gaskets and bearings and parts that may be useful to the project.
I got several club donations of parts and my garage is getting smaller.
email me if you need something and I may have it here. Free is always a good price.

Any updates on this epic undertaking?

We have the parts to finish this up (except the windshield glass). Unfortunately, the weather has not cooperated. Anyone interested in a workday this Sunday, if the temps stay in the 40's or higher?

Yes, we do. I too forgot we didn't have them yet.

Sorry guys, family stuff preempted my raffle truck workday this past weekend. Too bad because the weather was warm enough. Did anyone make it over to Jeff's to do a little wrenching on their own?

PS - FJ40_landcruiser@cox.net email sent. Thx.

Guys please let us know when on line ticket sales are available.. got a couple folks out this way who are eager to get in.

John, good to meet you at CM.
