Small turnout today with Tom, Tracy and your truely. Tracy did a lot of cleaning and prepping for paint on small brackets, license plate holders, etc. We took inventory of the bolts and miscellaneous items we will need to finish up. We also cleaned up the blower housing, replaced the fan motor and installed dash knobs for the heater and vent controls. Professor Ed was unable to make it so he left us with strict instructions not to put juice to anything or risk letting the smoke out (he likes to save that fun for himself). As a result, we didn't get to wrap up the wiring as originally planned. Sorry, no pics today.

We are still looking for front turn signals so if anyone has a spare set lying around, please sing out.

Seats or seat covers, tires and shocks are the big items we still need to find. We have both 15" and 16" wheels if anyone has some decent tires that are 32" or smaller (unless you also have a lift and caster shims you can to donate).

More progress this weekend. Hands on deck: Devilman's Hand, Thornton, StaleAle, TRFCSUX, Von Hayek, and SAS.

Von Hayek delivered more abrasive-blasted parts. These 40-year old parts clean up remarkably well. Thanks, Bart!

"Dr. Ed" Morth worked on the wiring harness. Much of it he had taken home to rebuild over the past months. He salvaged a lot of the OEM connectors, replaced others, but all getting QC'd with new solder joints and shrink wrapped. Some pieces, like today, take some fitting. This is tedious work, but will all payoff. Thanks, Ed!

The roll-bar is in. The bib is on. headlight buckets are freshly painted and installed. Devilman's Hand delivered a cleaned and painted FJ40 bumper, which we installed.

Maybe it's Central Region TLCA karma!

Cool Cruisers of Texas and the Tornado Alley Cruisers come-through in the same week with big donations!

But not exclusively....TrollHole Cruisers (South Carolina) sent his fourth or fifth load of parts donation to this project.

thank you all!

Many thanks to Cool Cruisers of Texas for helping out with the raffle truck by selling us all of the weather stripping and some emblems at a very steeply discounted price. Thanks Steve McClung and the CCOT crew!

Stephen has always been a huge TLCA supporter, and this is a signal of his continuing support. Thanks Stephen!

A little more progress this weekend--I spent much of the day yesterday and today with the abrasive blaster, cleaning parts and laying down some rust inhibiting paint. I've got a bezel ready for final paint.

Before next weekend, we should receive some parts from Texas (CCOT), Kansas/Missouri (Tornado Alley Cruisers), and South Carolina (TrollHole), plus JohnB (where are you brother?!!!!) is sending a carb fan with controller.

Next weekend should be busy hanging more parts and getting closer to completion.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

More progress on the raffle truck today--thanks to Thornton, StaleAle, TRFCSUX, novaSteve, and Devilman's Hand for making it happen.

The package of parts arrived from TORNADO ALLEY CRUISERS so we promptly installed the turn indicators. Thornton installed the headlights and rings, ready for the bezel.

I stripped and painted the bezel last week, and we installed it with new hardware and nylon spacers, then snapped this picture---what do you think? Thornton says we should paint it pink and scribe "Save the Tatas" on it! So after a good laugh I painted it black. The skid plate is staying red, however!

Two Steve's pulled the hard-top in from the shed and went to town on final prep for paint. Weather permitting, it will go under the spray-gun next Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.

Thornton had to do a weld repair, and used the grinder to get the surface close to right. TRFCSUX followed up with the sanding block and a modest "schmear" of filler to smooth the finish.

Thornton and StaleAle mounted the seat brackets, and disassembled the bucket seats donated by Devilman's Hand. The passenger side is in great shape..the driver side needs new vinyl upholstery on the seat bottom.

UPS just dropped off the parts from Cool Cruisers.

Thanks again CCOT

Damn I miss that red bezel

ACC Donates a Ton of Parts!

The Capital Land Cruiser Club would like to thank Atlanta Custom Cruisers for a very generous donation of some freshly powder coated wagon wheels, the capture cushions for the spare tire carrier, brand new seat belts, the tail light assembly with fresh powder coat, apron emblems, and the rear Toyota and 4WD emblems. This is huge--thanks to Brian and the ACC crew!

CLCC also wants to say THANK YOU to Tread-Wright tires, for giving us a huge discount on a set of five 31x10.5x15 all-terrains!

This classic '77 FJ40 is gonna be rollin' sweet on a powder-coated set of wheels from Atlanta Custom Creations (ACC) and tires from Tread-Wright.

Here's the update for this weekend--hard top installed, windshield frame installed, rear ambi-doors installed and hood hinges installed.

We hung one door, but are missing a hing for the passenger side (go figure?). New weatherstrip installed on all 4-doors (thank you, Cool Cruisers of Texas!)

Thornton took the truck for a drive down his country road; he ran it through all the gears and returned with a big 'ol smile on his face.

New wheels and tires should be in-bound soon from ACC and Tread-Wright. This classic '77 FJ40 is going to be a pretty sweet-looking ride.

Impressive work! I think I have a front door hinge - don't know if they are all the same (driver's, passenger's, upper, lower) but you're welcome to it if you need it.
