Seeing how you already have their best price on the Safari brand at 5 orders, it might be a good idea for someone to put the feelers out there for the new 100 Series TJM AirTec snorkel... Anyone?

Just bought one from Carl at JT. Will do a photo install to post.

I the words of the great Eric Cartman; "I f*#k'n hate you" Dan.

I really wanted the Roca Silva but just couldn't justify the coin and the hassle to get one stateside.

Hopefully this will end my dust ingress issue...thanks for the clue-in on that one Loud...and to Jon for the real world testimonial on the TJM snorkel!

Apologies to the OP for the hijack.

I might be in....need a snorkel like I need a third testicle.....looking forward to Dan's install pics before I pull the trigger. Have concerns about how to deal with the electric antenna.

I spoke to Michael at TJM USA earlier today about a couple concerns/questions before I decided to pull trigger to purchase one. And one of the questions revolved around the antenna.

Per Michael: The antenna and motor need to be removed to install the TJM Airtec snorkel. However, per Michael's experience with installing the same snorkel on his LX470, he discovered a second antenna in the PS rear wing window (I've noticed it but never paid much attention to why it was there).

He stated his FM reception is better now just utilizing the rear wing window antenna compared to when he had the motorized antenna. He stated there is a duplex connector that apparently merges the two antenna feeds in to one cable that runs to the radio...

If the antenna apart of the PS rear wing window proves to be inadequate I'll mount a fixed height antenna either on the top of the PS fender...or somewhere else.

I figure this snorkel, based upon everyone's experience with them in very dusty environments, will pay for itself within two years...just in air filter savings!

Who listens to the radio?

I'm getting the TJM, and one of Gamiviti's antenna mounts for the relocation, or I'll route to the rear bumper. Don't need no steenking antenna:grinpimp:

Definitely awaiting Spresso's install

I'd be in on this. I really like the look of the Airtec. Whether or not I need it is another story. I'll say "dust and all the high water crossings here in Colorado" My :princess: will understand.

I do like the new Airtec snorkel.
Will see how much they are in Oz. Probably more.

We still have great FM out here in the Reno area! This just got up and running north of here in Gerlach Nevada where they hold Burning Man. FM it is when I'm up there exploring and streaming here...

Dan's getting a dorkel, Dan's getting a dorkel...:grinpimp:

That one looks pretty sweet and hopefully your dust inhalation goes down. Mine did on the 80.

And so it begins, lol.

Unbelievable isn't it?! :D Well interestingly enough I seemed to have survived* all those axle deep water crossings, apart of most of our trips together, without a snorkel :)...but the dust issue finally put me over the brink on the decision making process.

And of course the snorkel is and of itself another slippery slope project as the wind fairing will need to be modified...but the fairing was going to get modded anyway for yet another "little" project I'm working on.

*Once I got the diff breather system figured out

Stay tuned.

Mine is on, easy install quality product. I'm on my cell otherwise I would post pictures. There are some a couple pages back in the photo thread.

Carl at JT was great to deal with, I ordered my lift and snorkel at the same time for a great price.

Im getting this snorkel in the next couple of weeks, christmas present to meself.

was quoted $325 shipped.

i never use my radio so not having an antenna is no biggie

I do have some questions/concerns about snorkels though. Love the look of the Airtec, but I like the design of the Safari where during a normal rain the water is "broken" by the diffuser and runs down the snorkel body and out the relief holes. The Airtec has a similar design, but does it work? Here's an interesting article about it...

Anyone running this or any other snorkel have any "Heavy Rain" comments?

^^^ Good to know. wildsmith provided a good testimonial to me before I committed to purchase. We live in an area that typically sees about 8" of total precip in any given year so the dust is more of a factor than moisture.

And a one-way valve at the bottom of the air filter box should eliminate any potential heavy moisture infiltration issue per your link (thanks for that BTW!).

Michael at TJM did say you really can't tell, from the driver's view, the snorkel is there...that was another question I had.
