Disassembled the Hupp heater. A little rusty, but not to bad. Managed to test the fan and found it still works. Need to find a on/off switch. Had some extra elbows that fit that I had bought from City Racer, LLC for my FJ45 project. Just need to find a length of hose to run up to the defroster vents. I will run the heater core over to the radiator shop for a check tomorrow. I have to figure out what hoses and shutoffs are needed in the engine bay to make this all work.

Removed the oil filter canister to ease work on the carb. Thick layer of sludge in the bottom of the canister. A good cleaning got me thinking that now is the time to PC. Sacrificed the sticker but might be able to find a reproduction.

I would just clean it up. Old paint and original labels suit original trucks better than shiny powder coat. Imho

I think this switch is similar to what was used back in the day.

I found that one also after reading several threads. Ordered and on the way. Still blown away that the fan motor works.

Has anybody moved their heater? Mine is mounted to the far right side and makes it almost impossible to run two ducts up to the defrost vents. I am sure this is due to starting it's life in warmer California.

There should be a lock strip for the windshield that goes on the outside.

Found a cheap jerry can ($25) just down the road from me. For the price I thought it was worth a shot even if it is a leaker. Missing the nozzle. Looks good on the Con-Ferr rack that came in the spare parts crates with the truck. Will watch for a sale on the Toyota jerry cans on City Racer's site if it does have a leak.

Finding the big nozzles (the ones before the ethanol-related invasion of dinky little nozzles) for these older Jerry cans is the hard part. Government surplus supposedly, but you have to have a government connection (e.g. fire department).

I'd forget the nozzle and find one of those battery powered pumps for them you can find online.

Pop that sucker on there, run some hose to your fill cap and let it run for a few minutes. Easy peasy.

How does that possibly attach to that Jerry can 🤷‍♂️?

The heater fan switch arrived in the mail. As did the hoses for the windshield defrosters. Not sure if I like the hoses. They are aluminum and are a bit jenky. I think if the heater had been mounted in the middle of the firewall it would have been better.

The frame around the radiator had a broken bolt causing the whole thing to rattle. Decided to pull the radiator out to weld in a new M10 bolt. Looking at the water pump installed is a later version. The PO included the original water pump. Other threads I came across recommend "The flying Dutchman" water pump rebuilding. Will need to get in touch with them and see if it is worth the effort. There is a NOS water pump on Ebay currently which might be the way to go. Also need to locate a gasket for this old pump.

I went the NOS pump route and it worked out great, however, be mindful that in my case the middle eastern climate had shrunk the gasket on the rear cover incredibly and I needed to find a replacement gasket first before installing the pump. Puts a dampener on your excitement to fit the new pump.

Worked on the TNK wiper motors this week. Followed the thread by @jvincig01 in the 40/55 Tech Section that explains how to clean out the old grease that has become gummy and crusty. Both motors work great now. Need to locate new rubber grommets and rubber washers for the re-install. 58 year old rubber tends to shatter.
Still have two spare motors that don't function after cleaning. Anyone know a good repair shop? Also, anyone know a source for the rubber seal that goes on the shaft just behind the wiper arm?
