went back to this project and the only thing i wished i added is the vent window.
Interesting. What performance advantages have you reassessing this Cruiser? [Yes, I am shallow since we have a near twin] Thanks

Vent window. Does not sound like a performance item.
If vent windows enhance the comfort of the driver/passengers, it is a performance item to me. Maybe not as readily quantified/verified as 0-60mph or mpg performance metrics (for example), but valuable still to me.

If I have crossed a line with the systems engineering team by including a qualitative item in a performance assessment/discussion, please accept my apology. Regrettably, I am not a purist with the systems engineers.

[lol I thought I had left any thought of systems engineering / qualitive vrs quantitative performance metrics / ... behind when I quit work. Apparently, I need more time without a job to purge my mind]

Well things don't always go as smooth as it may seem on the internet when we import these things.

Mississippi being Mississippi is not the greatest place to register these trucks. It's cumbersome and slow and never the same from car to car.

Preferably when I import these, the owner does the paperwork in their name in their state using my broker papers. Since I imported this one and the guy ghosted me I went ahead and put the papers in my name and started the process.

The good thing is, we get a tag immediately. Bad thing is the title may take up to 4 months before the first answer comes back and then they may do nothing until the 120 days is up and I start calling.

I put in for the titie in June. Took the truck to PA to it's new owner in July and in DECEMBER finally got this letter requiring me to physically bring the vehicle for VIN inspection

****. That's 22 hours each way to get the truck. I begged them to do this on Zoom and they looked at me like I had a third eye.

So I took a fresh holt. Pulled on my big boy pants and made a csnnonball run to PA to beat the 15" snow that was forecasted last week

The man, the legend, the Pig Snagger.
Well played.

Déjà vu…..
Same place? Second to only Alabama!

No. This time it was in Jackson. The Biloxi guy was much more efficient.

For the record we had to do this on Justin's 70 because MS left off a digit on the VIN 🤦

100% MS fault. Thankfully @wngrog helped me get it fixed quickly and even drove to the closest vin inspector to me, in Biloxi. Once MS fixed their clerical error, AL title and inspection was no issue.

Oh my!!! Very interesting how different the process in Georgia was for me.

Our two 70s shared the container for the voyage over, so the starting dates were effectively the same. In Georgia, after getting insurance coverage started and the documents translated, the first step was vehicle inspection at our local police station. No appointment required or possible. i.e., I waited until an officer had completed all other assignments, then he inspected the paperwork (original and translated) and got a verbal history summary from me. Once that was complete, we moved out to the 70 where he checked VIN plates/frame stamps against the paperwork. He then returned to his computer and spent close to on hour checking that this vehicle was not stolen over-seas. Once he was satisfied, I could go to the county tag office to get the title and tag. Here was the only rear issue with the clerk. The paperwork reflected two dates (when it was built and when it was titled in Saudi Arabia) and she demanded that we try to get the importation paperwork changed to reflect only one date. This was unreasonable, but we tried. With Nolen's aid (signature) no a supplemental form, I returned and the clerk allowed the title request to proceed up to the state for review and adjudication. (with a very heart lecture from the clerk about how I was at full risk for rejection and fine by the state) The state issued the title in a few days without comment. License and title process complete by June.

You have my sympathy Nolen. I thought that Georgia put us through the wringer with such a slow frustrating process, but I now see what frustrating can look like.
