I have finally gotten off my ass and started in on my latest FZJ70.

I bought this one in a few months ago and have been too busy to mess with it.

@Meshal found this gem up in the dry mountains. Ex .gov truck. 115,000 km or 70,000 miles.

I pulled the split rims off the other day and installed some 33's I had as a take off from a project 40 so I could put some miles on it to see if it's sound

We also installed some cool period correct stripes before it left Saudi.

The truck got all new weatherstrip all around, some paint correction and new locks/keys.

Looking at my notes we did about $3500 in OEM parts and $2000 in paint work

This thing is wicked fast. We had the carb rebuilt before it left Rhiahd by the same dude that has done all of my other trucks and damn. He did something special to this one. The secondary literally explodes when you floor it. I actually chickened out and stopped the speed here. I bet it has 170-175 in it

While I'm waiting for the slow ass DMV here in Mississippi to get me a clean title I'm going to do a few things to it to make it ready for resale.

First up is a Terrain Tamer parabolic suspension

Got a nice bunch of Saudi trucks in the house right now

Check out how insanely clean this truck is underneath. Mind you it is 27 year old. Crazy. I also love how these trucks all have OEM Toyota parts when they do maintenance

Here is a video I made for the guy that said he wanted it so I imported it for him.

Then he ghosted me. He offered to give me a deposit and I mistakenly trusted him.

this one along with @LDowney truck are the cleanest shories i tried. both of them had bad shocks but they are solid as a rock with no noises.

from my side, all parts were oem except the stripes are high quality after market.

Whoever is going to buy it gonna be happy.

You are proven miracle. I have confidence that you can find more exceptionally clean trucks. Watching eagerly from the sidelines at what you find next. Kudos to you sir.

This is the swaybar ends I use. They sell at Auto Zone and they fit 70s and 60s.

The Terrain Tamer steering dampener comes pre assembled on the ends with grease zerks. Very nice.

@Meshal has one at the moment. Very rare over there. I think it's a carbed 1FZ factory soft top.

This one had been sitting in the owner’s garage for about 10 years until he got released; he asked the kids not to touch it.

The place was dry in the mountains. Had no AC or heater, but we added stock units. Then we went crazy with weather straps because I wanted to fulfill my satisfaction. I also as usual kept it period correct and because this stripe model is rare to find and still holding color i kept it. this stripe came in 1995/1996 only. it was odd truck because it is LX but no ac when we got it.

I believe our friend Chris got a good shot with this one.

I can't remember if it was on my Instagram page or in my FZJ70 build thread that I polled the 255/85-16 versus the 285/75-16

For this style 70 the vote was 9 out of 10 people liked the looks of the wider tire in the shorty 70

So.....I decided to get this one some 285s but this time I went with an AT. The Yokohama X-AT is what I have been running on my 200 for the last year on some serious off road trips out west. (Search Whale in the 200 section for trip reports)

One thing about the 70 is the sliding side/ rear glass on these trucks lets in a lot of noise. The MTs, even new give you a bit of unnecessary cabin noise unless you really need an MT

These tires have been amazing on my 200 so I figured I'd give them a shot

Same as on mine, I added a 1" spacer to the rear. Most likely these won't need it because the FJco wheels have the proper 3.5" backspace versus the Smooth Vintique on my 70 at 4.0

Either way this makes the front and rear the same since the rear axle is narrower than the front.
