I've got a couple I saved from my recent coil swap that are in decent shape, but maybe someone closer to you has one as well.

If original- the coil boots and the gasket can be replaced pretty cheap- Denso has a boot kit: part # 671-8184- you can find the Denso parts on Rock Auto for under $50. That will buy you some time. But eventually they will all start cracking. The Toyota coils arent cheap but I prefer them over the slightly lowercost Denso OES part. They are the same supplier to Toyota, but cant be sure if the parts are exactly same just in different boxes. There are counterfeits out there so if you buy new, buy from an official source (not amazon or ebay).

FYI There is a toyota parts sale on right now @ - 25% off the normal discounted price so its a good time to start buying a few or all of your replacement coils. The link to parts sale should be in a thread on the main 100 series landing page.
I just bought a new Toyota coil for $58 shipped (including tax) from Serra Toyota. They are cheaper than Denso right now. I'm on a roll and had two fail in the last month, but at 340k miles, I can't hardly complain.

Do you have a promo code to get it that cheap? I'm showing $110.73 before shipping.

Followed your link. This time I got $83
not sure how you guys are getting em so cheap.

Make sure you add it to your cart and then look in the cart. Some of the discount magic happens there.

I recently bought my 06 LX470 and saw this thread and went to check on my plugs and have to replace anyways since im at a 115k miles. I thought they were all good until i got to cylinder 3 and pulled it the coil was super brown and the rubber at the bottom was so brittle i touched it and it crumpled. Then went to turn the plug and boom super easily comes out so definetly was very loose. I also noticed some of my coil packs even though the boot was fine and supple the coil pack had a crack in it, about 4 of them had that cracked issue and I ended up buying the denso ones from rockauto and just bought all 8 instead. I appreciate this post any later and I wouldve been the next case.

I was replacing spark plugs and noticed two on left bank were so loose that I was able to remove those with bare hands. Tomorrow I will be re torquing all the spark plugs, should I torque these to 18 ft-lb? Seems like thats general consensus here ?
  • Toyota Factory Service Manual (FSM): 13 ft-lb (18 N·m)
  • Common IH8MUD community practice: ~18 ft-lb

Also how much should i torque the coils?
One last thing, some of the coils are showing heat cracks, I have one spare brand new duralast coil, is it ok to use one duralast coil?

Agree - 18 ftlbs good - on a dry thread.
Not had any issue with the coil bolts backing off - so until tight.
Replaced my coils with Amazon Denso 673-1303. A lot of people doubt their 'authenticity' and it's probably reasonable, but I'm on a budget so took a chance - OK so far (5 years but low miles). If the coils are degraded I'd change 'em out for best ones I can afford/willing to spend. If you go with a cheaper option maybe hold a couple of spares in the truck ready for changeout for failure on the road/trail - the most basic ($10) ODB scanner tells you the problem cylinder. Good luck.

Coil 10mm bolt torque 66 INCH-lbf. (5.5ft-lbf.)
