I have been talking to them I am trying to see how many 24 gal kits they can fit on one pallet.

Hi Timothy,
Thank you for your enquiry.
We manufacture a 90ltr or 160ltr auxiliary tank to suit the 80 series Landcruiser.
$1300.00 AUD.
Part numbers TLC80RAX (160ltr) TLC80RAX24G (90ltr)
This tank is a complete kit with everything required so you do not need to purchase any additional items.
Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

They do ship to the states but it is about $380

Hi Timothy,
Our current lead time is around 3 weeks.
Freight to Denver, Colorado is $500.00 AUD per m3 (Sea Freight)
International buyers--PLEASE CAREFULLY NOTE:
a) Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping and handling. These charges are the buyer’s responsibility.
b) Please check with your country’s customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to buying.

So for 2K I can get one, or fab up a S10 blazer tank and have about $1900 left over I think I will go with a Fab job myself

Great option if you can put it together - Many dont have the fab skills or more money available then time.

Sure...$2K AUD or $1.5K USD installed.

Echoing Phil: Everyone has different capabilities, resources, and skills. Evaluate and make a decision.

Well it's only $1400 and made of heavy gauge steel, dual filler, fuel gauge and outback proven. There are many options this is just one of them and I doubt you make it one comparable for $100.

Resurrecting this thread. Went the more expensive route and bought a 37 gallon LRA replacement from Cruiser Brothers. Waiting to get it installed, but I have it.

Best bet is to get in touch with Cruiser Brother's for a price quote.

I currently have a 24 gallon auxilary in-bound, larger sounds good until you look at how exposed it will be and the additional weight.

Wife’s 80. She still has the stock rear and spare under. Told her we could make Dallas to Amarillo on one tank. She said yes.

Doesn’t hang too bad. Additional 150 full with the weight diff of old and new tank.

It must be the restrooms on 287. Have you measured the difference in ground clearance from stock
So you’ve been there.

This is the pic @wardharris sent me of the replacement tank. No measurements yet. Stock tank weighs in the mid 30’s. New tank weighs ~108.

The long ranger tank (replacement of main tank) has its own problems.

1) Hangs lower than the stock tank - and that's in the 'middle' of the vehicle which is already problematic for high centering (LWB).
2) There is work involved to extend the fuel pickup/sensor stuff to correctly show tank level on the gauges etc.
3) The handbrake cable needs some relocation work due to the LR tank 'size'.

There's also some value in not putting all your fuel into a single tank.

There's NO need to add the additional gauges for the (factory) subtank. It holds about 13 US gallons, so you wait till the main is say around 1/4 to 1/3 full and just transfer the lot in one go. No different than have say 3 jerry cans and dumping them all into the main. You know the subtank is either full or empty - not too hard to remember...

cheers,
george.

I totally 100% agree with George. I recently bought a '95. It came with both a LRA tank and a sub-tank! Talk about some range! The LRA tank sits down below the rails some. Not thrilled with that. One of the reasons I won't be wheeling that rig. OK for its overland duties though, which is what it will be doing.

The gas gauge does not work correctly on the LRA tank. I need to fix that. There is no gas gauge for the subtank on my setup and I see no reason to add one. Keep it simple is my thought.

I've thought about putting a stock tank back into the rig but I really like the 50+ gallons of fuel!

Tank is going in the truck. I am glad I got professional help. In my mind it’s not quite a bolt in due to extending the pick-up and level sensor, but that may be easy for some of you. I’m not a welder. Pic of instructions.

Do they provide the extensions for pickup and float? How far does tank extend below frame rail?
Yes. All parts and instructions are included. I'll have measurements after it's installed. I'm not a crawler so if I lose a little bit I'm not worried. I also just got it lifted with 2.5" OME so it will be fine for me. I'm after range.

Helps to have a lift and trans jack.

Man, on the freeway my rig will do roughly 4 hours at 60MPH between tank refills. Strangely my bladder is roughly the same before needing emptying. It's hard to see the value of an extended range tank (at least at my age). Not sure I see the real world need for this mod...

It’s not for everyone.

Its mainly for emergencies. Like down here in FL we get hurricanes and everything runs out quickly. Some people go travel into small towns and dont trust gas stations. I think it's more to have peace of mind.
